Uddeholm is the world’s leading provider of ESR tool steel. The ESR process

leads to steel with improved homogeneity and less overall carbide sizes, as

well as a cleaner steel. Typical applications are steel for the plastics industry,

advanced moulding steel and steel for the electronics industry. For instance

this includes our steel for tools that produce lenses, mobile phones and

other fine electronics.

We are also a world leader in powder steel for cold forming. The powder

metallurgy process produces steel that is completely homogeneous with

evenly distributed small carbides. These carbides protect the tool from wear,

without causing cracks. powder steel from Uddeholm is considered the

cleanest powder metallurgy tool steel on the market.

In recent years Uddeholm has focused on long-run die casting production

and the importance of a good property profile for the dies. Continued

growth depends, to a large extent, on the greater use of die castings in the

automotive industry, where weight reductions are important.
