An ofTicially sanctioned Sesquicentennial tribute to Jeff McKissack, is on display, featuring photographs, the tools he used and interviews with people who encountered this unique artist during the 25 years he created The Orange Show. Jeff McKissack loved to dance. In honor of the season's opening, you are Invited to a square dance exhibition by The Spirits at 7:00 p.m. You can tap a toe, too! At 8:00 p.m.. The All American Blues Band will play blues and Zydeco music. There's also comedy by T. Sean Shannon, and fire eating! THE EASTER ORANGE HUNT SUNDASf, MARCH 30. Our old friend The Easter Bunny is coming at 2:00 p.m. to do magic and help organize our fourtn annual Easter Orange Hunt. Kids under 10 years old are invited to participate, and won't have to pay the $1.00 hunt fee if they can find the orange in the maze. Call us at 552-1767 and we will sent you a puzzle, or pick one up when you visit The Orange Show. THE HOUSTON FESTIVAL FIRST TWO WEEKENDS IN APRIL. Look for The Orange Show's Fruitmobile at the Houston Festival. We need volunteers during the hours of 10:30 - 6:00 p.m. to help hand out literature and blow bubbles! CINCO DE MAYO We will celebrate this traditional Mexican holiday on Sunday, May 4, 2-4 p.m. with music, exhibits, a pinata and lots of margaritas. NEW MUSIC AMERICA SATURDAY, APRIL 10. 10:30 a.m.The Fruitmobile. along with Houston's other amazing autos, will cruise up Montrose Blvd. as part of the New Music America Parade. THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 5-8 p. m. The Orange Show will host environmental music presentations by Christine Baczewska. Neil Rolnick with Barbara Noska and Nicholas Collins. Beer and Barbeque too! Admission $5.00. (Sorry, Festival passes are not good for this event, and Orange Show members are requested to make reservations.) Advance tickets on sale at all Tlcketron outlets. The Orange Show, a kind of visionary fantasticalminiature Disneyland, is considered by artists andh i s to r i ans to be one o f t he fines t examp les o fe n v i r o n m e n t a l f o l k a r t i n t h e U n i t e d S t a t e s . I t i s t h e w o r kof one man, Jeff McKissack, who for 26 years dedicated hislife to the creation of this monument to the orange.Constructed of concrete block masonry, with balconies,galleries, and an outdoor amphitheatre, it containshandmade metal sculpture, gates and wagon wheelrailings as well as a whimsical maze, models, andnarrative exhibits all extolling the virtues of this creator'sf a v o r i t e f r u i t .

McKissack worked alone, with his own hands, and spent aquarter-century conveiving and constructing his privateUtopia, spelling out his philosophy of hard work andcreating what he called a "health show." He believed thatthe orange was the perfect food and that it gave the bodyperfect energy.
