    Abstract: Visualization is defined as an act of cognition, which is, creating mental im-

    ages of space that is currently visible. Geographic visualization with its roots in cartog-

    raphy and cartographic visualization are important technical, technological and scien-

    tific breakthrough in the popularization of geographical science. Advances in computer

    science in general and particularly in the field of GIS and remote sensing, has enabledthe improvement geographic visualization and significantly expanded the use of frame-

    work, analyzing and presenting spatial data.

    IN POPULARIZATION OF GEOGRAPHY

    Summary

    There has been a significant development of geo-visualization in the last twenty years.

    This development is related to new concepts of spatial data gathering, distribution and

    representation as well as to contemporary technical and technological solutions and pos-

    sibilities. The role of geographic visualization has been emphasized in recent years,

    especially in the department of geographical science research. Geographic visualization

    has numerous advantages in terms of presentation of geospatial data, data management

    and distribution, 3D modeling, analysis, animation and simulation. Globally, the role of

    geo-visualization is also very significant in education process and in increasing popular-ity of geographical science in general. However, development of geographic visualiza-

    tion has its problems and challenges which must be solved in the future years.
