ULTISEP® PAST PERFORMANCE LEADS TO NEW WIN IN GAS PLANT COMPETITOR’S TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT KEEP UP

A gas plant operating in Markham, TX processes about

150 MMSCFD through a single cryogenic train. Upon

initial startup of the plant they purchased an UltiSep®

separator to remove particulate and liquid aerosol

droplets from the inlet natural gas to the plant.

Years later, due to increase gas available through the

Eagle Ford Shale they expanded the plant with a

second cryogenic train able to process up to 600

MMSCFD. The plant manager of the facility did not

purchase a new UltiSep® separator and did not

replace elements that had blown out just replaced single elements one by one with a competitor’s

element and not Pentair APEX® elements.

With the competitor’s elements and technology, the vessel did not provide the required performance

and that led to the operations staff calling Pentair to come out provide the following support:

• Fix their UltiSep® to get it back to original Pentair quality working conditions

• Teach the operations staff proper installation and removal of elements as well as trouble

shooting challenges associated with UltiSep® and gas processing.

After winning back the business, the facility asked for quotes for solvent amine filtration and for a new

UltiSep® to help protect train 2.

Please see the following pictures regarding the visit, the blown out elements, the elements trapped in

the strainer downstream of the UltiSep® and the finished product of the work provided for the

customer and leading to new interest and business in other parts of the plant.
