1.1. Preliminary Remarks

Running head: Type a short title of your study in CAPITAL

on both even and odd pages of the header section of the page. Do not

include running head in the page in which you typed chapter one,

two, … in large font and the first page of each unit. Include it in next

page on until the first two pages of chapter two.

Use the following guidelines to prepare your MA thesis

Font: Use Times New Romans 12

Margins: Leave 2.54 cm at the top, bottom, right, and left

margins

Line spacing: Double

Paragraph spacing: Double

The first line of all paragraphs are indented using the tab key set

at five to seven spaces

Whenever you want to use abbreviations, do not type the words

in capital but only type the abbreviations in capital within

parentheses. The next time on, you are not allowed to use the

whole words; only use the abbreviations. For example, task-

based instruction (TBI). The second time use only TBI.

Numbers less than 10 should appear in words (e.g., five, six,

nine) but use numerals for 10 and above (e.g., 11, 50, 123).

However, if the numerals appear at the beginning of the

sentence, type them in words. For example: Fifty five percent of

the learners reported that ……. . Remember that all numbers

should be typed in numerals in the abstract section.

Do not leave space before period, comma, colon, semi-colon,

slash, hyphen, and words in parentheses but leave space after

them. For example, males/females … (in the textbook).

Tables should be inserted. To this purpose, click on insert

option, tables, insert tables, select the number of rows and

columns, and then click on ok. For example:

As soon as you completed the table, remove all vertical lines

and keep only the first, the second, and the last horizontal lines. The

space of the lines in tables should be single, the font should be 11, and

the title of the table should appear on the top of the table in italics and

capital. The space between table number and title should be 1.5. For

example:

To remove the horizontal lines, select each row and click on

border (Figure 1). Once click on bottom border, the bottom line would

disappear, and then click on the top border.

For the caption of figures type the figure and its number in

italics, place dot, type only the first letter of the first word in

capital. The title of the figure is not in italics.

Notes of the table including definition of abbreviations appear

at the end of the table. Type the first letter of table in capital in

the context, i.e., Results shown in Table 1. Leave space between

Table and the number of table, but do not leave space between

the number of chapter and the number of table. For example:

Results are illustrated in Table 4.2. Table 4.2. means the second

table of chapter four. If you want to insert a third table in

chapter two, type Table 2.3

Tables should appear in the center. For this purpose, select the

whole table and click on increase indent as shown below:

Include all references that have been used throughout the study in this

section in alphabetical order. Use the following guidelines to complete

the references section.

Articles:

The last name of the author, the first letter of the first name in capital. The

first letter of the middle name in capital. (Date of publication). The title of the

article. The title of the journal in italics with the first letters in capital, the

volume number of the journal in italics(the issue number not in italics. Do not

leave space between the volume number and parenthesis), page numbers

(insert m dash (‒) from symbols do not use the hyphen key and do not leave

space before and after m dash). If the title of books or articles includes two

parts separate them by colon and type the first letter of the second title in

capital. For example:

The title of the book in italics (the page numbers of the chapter). The city of

publication: Publication.
