GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - Four young adventure seekers decided to do what people say couldn't be done any longer - ride 3,000 miles, on horseback, from the border of Mexico to Canada.Heres an amazing Ride to Canada on Horseback

The trip was the brainchild of front man Ben Masters, who after making a slightly shorter ride, decided he wanted to make a longer trip. This time he recruited three friends to help him ride and pack 16 wild mustangs they adopted and trained.

Over the course of two years Masters planned the logistics and every detail of the route they would take. He also decided they would document their trip and through a kick-starter campaign that raised $175,000, "Unbranded" was born.

Deciding to cover five states and 3,000 miles in just over five months these recent graduates decided the film would not only document the ride but also raise awareness about wild Mustangs.

Each year the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rounds up wild Mustangs, which are then put in holding pens to await adoption. Currently, there are around 50,000 wild horses in government holding facilities.

According to a 2012 report, around 37,000 wild horse and burros roam across federal rangeland. The wild horses and burros in the program are cared for through taxpayer money, which costs approximately $75 million per year to care for the 50,000 wild horses and burros in the program, according to a recent media interview with Masters.

"Unbranded" highlights these and other key points surrounding the wild horses.

The film starts out with Masters and his friend's adoption of their original string of Mustangs and the initial outset of the trip along the Arizona/Mexico border.

Nelson believes "Unbranded" has the potential to inspire more equestrians on American trail systems and said he does expect to see more riders on the trail after the film's release.
