Part 1 : Rev i ew Important Def in i t ions�Directions: Review the following definitions to prepare for today’s activity.
Topic: What a piece of writing is about.
Theme: The central idea or insight about human life the author wants us to obtain from reading a piece of writing. It is the story’s deeper meaning.
Theme Statement: A complete sentence that describes the theme of a piece of writing.
Moral: A moral gives advice and wisdom to the reader. Please note: We are not writing morals today.
