CLUB OFFICIALS CLUB HOUNOURS
Firstly, my congratulations to Gary and the first team lads for winning the
SCFL Division Two ‘Team of the Month’ award for February— a great
achievement for all the hard work that has produced this recent run of
form.
Excellent victories against leaders Alfold and Westfield prior to that was
well received and shows we have the squad to compete with teams above
and around us currently.
This should make for an exciting end to Gary’s first season at the club, with
a late surge up the table and interests in the Division Two Cup—a semi-final
against either today’s visitors, Rottingdean, or Cowfold to come.
We welcome Mark Desi to the management set up after he was recently
appointed the development squad manager and he will look to bring the lads
through the remainder of the Wyvern season with most of his games at home
too.
Mark has been around the club as a player for quite a few years and knows
the club well and we wish him success in his first managerial role at senior level. I was delighted for Mark and his side to chalk up a win
at Petersfield Town in midweek, hopefully the shape of things to come.
Also, we welcome graduate Dominic Edwards who recently was appointed programme editor and media manager. Dom will be behind
the scenes updating social media with latest scores from our matches and news of our youth results as when they come in.
Rottingdean Village are the visitors today—we welcome their players, management, committee members and supporters to Walton
Lane. They’re a side that have already beaten us at their place at the end of October, so we’re mindful of the threat they carry, on the
back of last week’s home win against Upper Beeding. Fingers crossed Gary and the boys can continue their good recent form.
Our thanks to Neil Holley-Williams, whose company—HW Business Systems - are today’s match sponsor in lieu of their on-going spon-
sorship of our club. We hope Neil enjoys his day at the club and look forward to the Man of the Match presentation at full-time!
Finally, we are hosting a race night in the clubhouse from 6.30pm tonight, would be great to see you there and support this club
fundraiser.
Enjoy the game,

TRACKSUIT SPONSORS 2017/18
Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to Walton Lane for
today’s SCFL Division Two fixture against Rottingdean
Village.
We extend a warm welcome to our visitors from the
Brighton area, their management, officials and support-
ers—and to match referee, Wayne Webb.
First off I’d like to talk about our win against Alfold a
couple of weeks ago. As much as I’m glad with the three
points, we were not near the standards we’ve set in
recent games, but were good enough to get the job done.
We could have scored three or four goals that day and
Nick pulled off some great saves which kept us in the lead,
but I’m very pleased with the result against a top of the table side.
Alfold keeper, Luis Correia’s sending off was probably a bit harsh, but you put your hands up when the
ball comes at you like that, the referee doesn’t have much of a choice.
We’ve had a couple of games called off these past two weeks but a few boys played in the reserve game
this Wednesday and training on Thursday has got them back into the swing of things for our game today.
Our last meeting with Rottingdean we lost 4-2 back in October—a day to forget, travelling with a scratch
side and no recognised goalkeeper. Today we will be at virtually full strength and in good form—showing
the work-rate and desire should get us over the line, but am aware Rottingdean had a good result at
home to Upper Beeding last week and no doubt up for a battle on what will be a soft surface with the
recent weeather.
I’m very pleased we won team of the month, with decent victories against leaders Alfold and Westfield in
February and making the League cup semi-final. A massive ‘well done’ to all the players—hopefully this is
just the start of things to come.
Thank you for your support, and ‘up the Robins!’

Rottingdean Village joined the Sussex County League in 2005-06, finishing their
inaugural campaign in fourth spot—a season that also saw Bosham finish as the
basement side in the SCFL.
Playing home fixtures at Rottingdean Sports Centre, four miles East of Brighton—the
club equalled their best ever finish in the County set-up in 2015-16, ending the
season once again in fourth spot, albeit playing thirty-games (05-06 was was over
24 fixtures).
An FA Charter Standard club, Rottingdean have a fantastic youth set-up running
multiple sides from under 6 under 18 level—who compete in the SCFL Youth League
(Central). Further progression into adult football is made through their reserve side,
who play in the Under 21’s East Division.
