RCUWM-Tehran is one of the 18 Category II Centre’s, acting under the auspices of UNESCO in the field of water management issues.
This centre was officially inaugurated in February 2002, by an agreement signed and exchanged between I.R. Iran and UNESCO.

The Center is an advisory and coordinating body which steers the execution of the program of activities by means of universities, researchers, and governmental agencies in order to enhance sustainable use of water resources.
