Reading Task

On the next two pages you will find some facts about animals found in the world’s oceans. Read the facts (if

they are tricky a grown up can read them to you) then have a go at answering the questions.

Writing Task

This week we would like you to listen to/watch “Manfish- The Story of Jacques Cousteau” by Jennifer

Berne which can be found on the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGi2BkgPfDc .

We would like you to pretend you are Jacques Cousteau after your first experi-

ence of life under the sea when you put the goggles on and went for a swim

(3.30 minutes into the story). Think carefully about what you could see all around

you and how you would have felt if you were Jacques. Can you write a

postcard to your Mum and Dad to tell them about what you saw using the

template which can be found in a separate document. A postcard is a bit like

a letter but less formal.

Here is this week’s learning point and

‘steps to success’. The green writing refers to a challenge that

you could try to use in your writing.

On the next few pages you will find some other resources that

might be helpful to support you with your writing.

Here are some images from the story and

a video you could watch to help you to

think of some descriptive language such

as adjectives you could use in your post

card. You could watch the video and

look at the pictures and write some ideas

down before you write your postcard.
