Tufts University Department of English

The Morse Hamilton Fiction Prize $100 for the best short story by a full-time undergraduate.

The Academy of American Poets Prize $100 for the best poem or group of poems (200 lines max) by a full-time

undergraduate.

Submit two copies of your manuscript to the

English Department office, East Hall room 210 by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018.

Winners will be announced in April and will participate in a student reading.

Guidelines: 1. Submit two copies of your original manuscript, typed and double spaced. 2. Choose a pseudonym and print it on EACH page of your submission. Your real name should NOT appear on any page of your story or poetry. 3. Fill out a submission form, available at the English office and on the English Department website. 4. Each student is limited to one submission in each category.

The Department of English Presents

Poetry at Tufts

Duy Doan and Rebecca Morgan Frank

Rebecca Morgan Frank is the author of Little Murders Everywhere, a finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award; The Spokes of Venus (Carnegie Mellon 2016), and Sometimes We’re All Living in a Foreign Country (Carnegie Mellon 2017). Her poems have appeared in such places as The New Yorker, American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, Harvard Review, and Guernica. She is the Jacob Ziskind Poet in Residence at Brandeis University and co-founder and editor of Memorious.org.

Duy Doan is the author of We Play a Game, winner of the 2017 Yale Series of Younger Poets. His work has appeared in Poetry, Slate, The Cortland Review, and elsewhere. A Kundiman fellow, he received an MFA in poetry from Boston University, where he serves as director of the Favorite Poem Project.

Journalism Education Foundation of New England

The Journalism Education Foundation of New England has an outstanding scholarship opportunity for

students!

Once again this year, the Journalism Education Foundation of New England will award a number of

$1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and college students in our six-state region who plan to pursue

a career in journalism. This is a wonderful program that encourages and supports those who will staff and

lead our news organizations into the next generation.

Students from Tufts are eligible for these scholarships - we urge aspiring journalists to apply!
