Information for freshmenThe primary criteria for admission to EMU as a freshman are:

• High School GPA or GED scores• ACT/SAT test scores*• High school curriculum

When you apply for admission as a freshman:• You must request that an official transcript be sent to EMU in

a sealed envelope or electronically from your high school. GED scores may be used in place of a high school transcript.

• You must request that official ACT or SAT scores be sent to EMU.* Check with your high school to see if official scores are included with your transcript, or visit actstudent.org (ACT) or collegeboard.com (SAT) to have official scores sent to EMU. EMU’s ACT test code is 1990 and SAT test code is 1201.

• You will receive an admission decision by mail and you will automatically receive consideration for academic scholarships.

* Freshman applicants who are 21 or older are not required to submit test scores.

Information for international applicantsYou must meet all requirements as an international undergraduate student, including proof of English proficiency. Visit emich.edu/international for more information.

Information for transfer studentsIf you have enrolled at a college or or university after graduating high school and have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree, you are considered a transfer student. The minimum requirements for consideration for admission as a transfer student are a 2.0 cumulative college GPA and 12 transferable credits. Transfer students with fewer than 12 transferable credits may still apply, but must also meet our admission criteria for freshmen.

When you apply for admission as a transfer student:• You must request that an official transcript be sent to EMU in a

sealed envelope or electronically from every college or university you have attended.

• You will receive an admission decision by mail. If admitted, a transfer credit evaluation will be posted to your my.emich account.

Before applying for admission as a transfer student, visit emich.edu/transfer or call the Transfer Admissions Center at 734-487-1442 for information on:• Transfer course equivalency and evaluation of credit• Articulation agreements and transfer guides for community

colleges• EMU’s general education requirements and specific program

requirements• Academic scholarships

EMU is part of the MTA (Michigan Transfer Agreement) and MACRAO agreements among Michigan community colleges and four-year universities.

HOW TO APPLY TO EMUEMU uses a rolling admission process. Typically, we notify students of their admission decision within 2-4 weeks of receiving all required application materials. Carefully complete the application form on the facing page and enclose the non-refundable $35 processing fee via check or money order. Eastern Michigan University does not accept cash payments.
