An Educational PartnershipBellevue University offers undergraduate degree programs in an online learning format. Degrees are offered in Criminal Justice Administration, Corrections Administration and Management, and Security Management. Students are provided with Comprehensive Learning Modules™ and academic support through The College Network™ that will enable them to attain college-level credit to transfer to Bellevue University. Once a student is accepted to Bellevue University, courses will be available online or in class.

Students must complete a total of 127 credit hours to earn a degree. Students can receive up to 24 credits for police academy training and up to 14 credits for corrections training.

Bellevue University’s Cohort ApproachBellevue University offers bachelor’s degree programs in the public safety sector in a cohort-based format. Upon enrolling, you will be assigned to a group of students with similar professional and work experience who will become your “cohorts.” You will move through the entire degree program with your cohort group, completing all of your courses online with the same students. This approach allows you to build engaging relationships and solidify your knowledge gained from interaction with your fellow cohorts. Your knowledge and support will be a great benefit to other students in courses where you have related experience. You also will learn from the work and life experience of your cohorts. Each course builds upon those previous, allowing you to refer to discussions from past courses to enhance your learning.

Bachelor of Science in Corrections Administration and Management This program is offered in an accelerated, cohort-based format. The Corrections Administration and Management major offers students the knowledge, skills, and activities that are necessary for the professional oversight of modern correctional programs. This includes history and philosophy of corrections, research, management principles, strategic fiscal and resource management, risk management, effective system intervention, and an examination of the contemporary issues of concern to corrections professionals. The emphasis is on the integration of theory and practice, as well as synthesis with the students’ professional experience in the field of corrections.

Bachelor of Science in Security Management The Security Management program is offered in an accelerated, cohort-based format, concentrating on managing the challenging set of issues and situations faced by individuals working in private and industrial security. The program is designed for individuals working in the security industry and presents a focused set of managerial techniques, theories, and methods applicable to the professional in the field. The program is offered in class and online.

Prerequisites for Degree Programs*Once your application is complete, Bellevue University evaluates your entire application to arrive at an admission decision.

Application Requirements:

1. The applicant must possess an associate’s degree or have completed 60 semester hours with a grade of “C” or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning. Copies of transcripts or diplomas must be submitted for assessment. Student copies are acceptable for preliminary evaluation; however, official transcripts are required and should be ordered as soon as possible.

2. Bellevue University recommends that the applicant be currently employed for at least 30 hours per week in a work setting where the academic content of the major can be applied.

3. The applicant must possess three years of significant work experience relevant to the major or earned a minimum of an associate’s degree. (Only required for the Criminal Justice Administration major).

4. The applicant must submit a complete application for admission, signed, and accompanied by a $50 processing fee.

Students meeting all the above mentioned qualifications will be granted full admission. Applicants not meeting the qualifications will be considered by the Admissions and Standards Committee, which may approve exceptions on an individual basis.
