“I just had a phone call where someone said Sarah Palin’s web site had talked about the House bill having death panels on it where people would be euthanized. How someone could take an end of life directive or a living will as that is nuts”. ---Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA)

“It is unequivocal that the climate is changing, and it is very likely that this is predominantly caused by the

increasing human interference with the atmosphere. These changes will transform the environmental conditions on

Earth unless counter-measures are taken.” --- 2007 Joint Statement, Signed by 13 National Academies of Science

Current Hullabaloo Over Hacked CRU Emails

Wikipedia summary: The stolen material comprised more than 1,000 e-mails, 2,000 documents, as well as commented Fortran source code, pertaining to climate change research covering a period from 1996 until 2009. Some of the e-mails purportedly included discussions of how to combat the arguments of climate change skeptics, unflattering comments about skeptics, queries from journalists, drafts of scientific papers, keeping scientists who have contrary views out of peer-review literature, and talk of destroying various files in order to prevent data being revealed under the Freedom of Information Act.

Involves just one research institution and while it may reflect poorly on the scientists in the email – nothing undermines the science itself.

SUPPORTS INHOFE CALL FOR “ full

investigation into this scandal. Because it involves many of the same personalities and entities behind the Copenhagen conference, Climate-

gate calls into question many of the proposals being pushed there, including anything that would lead to a cap and tax plan.”

ADMITS CLIMATE CHANGE IS OCCURRING –WHICH SHE HAS OBSERVED “firsthand while

serving as governor of our only Arctic state. But while we recognize the effects . . . we cannot primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.” -- Sarah palin.

The Rebuttal

The verdict on global warming is in -- it's caused by humans and it is happening and nothing in the emails challenges that. . . . . "ClimateGate" itself is a misnomer. Perhaps the nickname should be "SwiftHack" for the way people with political agendas have "swiftboated" the global warming reality. As world attention turns to the climate conference in Copenhagen this December, this email hack acts as a distraction from the huge task at hand of getting world leaders to commit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As professor Richard Somerville says, "We're facing an effort by special interests who are trying to confuse the public."
