EATING AT MARS 2112

Are you looking for a different type of restaurant? Then Mars 2112 is the place for you. Mars 2112 is a popular restaurant in New York City. But it’s not an ordinary restaurant. People don’t come to Mars 2112 for the food. They come for an interesting and fun experience.

The name Mars 2112 comes from the red planet – Mars. Going to the restaurant is like visiting a different world. You sit in a “spaceship” – a room with some chairs in front of a screen. There are a lot of lights and the room begins to move. On the screen, you see pictures of a rocket, stars and a planet. Five minutes later, you “land” on Mars – well, actually the dining room. It’s a big room with rocky walls and red lights. Around 500 people can eat in it. Waiters in spacesuits bring your food, and everything has got a Martian name like Full Moon Pizza, Martian Soup or Red Star Fried Chicken. There are video games and music videos to entertain you, too. The restaurant is very popular and there is usually a long queue of people in front of it. A meal at Mars 2112 is a lot of fun.

Latest Post: Sunday, 10th August

This weekend, I went to the York Castle Museum in the city of York. The York Castle Museum is a history museum with a difference. The exhibits aren’t about kings and queens, they are about the lives of ordinary people: their clothes, their houses and the items in them.

On the first floor, there are rooms from the past. My favourite room is from a farmer’s house. It was very dark and the furniture was very plain. In another exhibit, there are cooking, cleaning and entertainment items. For example, you can see old vacuum cleaners, radios and stereos.

My favourite part of the museum was Kirkwood Street, a street from the 1900s. It has got a lot of the places we’ve got in modern cities. For example, there’s a chemist’s, a jewellery shop, a police station and a clock shop. But instead of a shoe shop there’s a shoemaker, and I didn’t see any clothes shops for women!

Next time you are in York, go to the museum. The museum is usually crowded in the afternoons and you need to wait in a queue to buy your tickets. So arrive early in the morning.
