PRE-SCHOOLERS ( 2 - 5 YEAR OLDS)A child’s first steps in dance are the most important and Caper has developed one of the most extensive pre-school dance programs in Sydney. We offer our 2-5 year olds the benefit of being a part of a school that can cater for a child from their pre-school years, through their primary school years, right up until their later years of high school.

For many students, pre-school dance classes are one of their first experiences in a social, learning environment. It is to be expected that children will be withdrawn or shy on their first lesson so please allow for a 2-3 week settling in period. Parents are welcome to watch the class for the first week to give their child extra support if needed.

Caper’s pre-school classes promote confidence, creativity and physical health; an appreciation of the arts; correct and age appropriate dance technique; positive social behaviour and teamwork in a group setting; as well as a love for learning through dance, music and imaginative play. The movement portion of each class has been designed with considerations of the level of physical and cognitive ability of children in the 2-5 year old age range.

READY SET DANCE (3-5 year olds)This is a fabulous program for boys and girls that includes jazz, hip hop, singing, music and tap. Your child will love:PBusting out their hip hop movesPSinging like a starPJoining the puppet showPSkipping along fairytale lanePFloating on their yoga cloudPLearning rhythm on our animal safariPJumping in puddles with their tap shoesPPlaying with our parachutesPPerforming on stage at our Annual Concert (optional)PGoing bananas with all of our cool music tracks created

by the top music producers from the Australian kids television industry

ANGELINA BALLERINA (3-5 year olds)Our pre-school ballet classes are inspired by the Angelina Ballerina books and TV series with themed activities and incentives. The curriculum was developed by US dance education specialist Beverly Spell and is a beautiful introduction to the magical world of ballet. Angelina Ballerina herself visits the studio every year.

MUMMY & ME (2-3 year olds & a carer)Mummy & Me classes are a great way to ease a child into the structure of a dance class whilst still having the security of a carer present. Students are engaged with carefully selected music and an array of props. When students are three and ready to attend a dance class independently, they are welcome to join our Ready Set Dance and/or Angelina Ballerina classes.

We have aligned with the best dance syllabus organisations and offer three options for pre-schoolers:

The Angelina Ballerina and Mummy & Me classes do not perform at the concert however all students receive a trophy at the end of the year that is engraved with their name.

Free trials are offered in all our pre-school classes so you are welcome to make a booking to tour our studio, meet the staff and teachers and join in on the fun.

CAPER JUNIORSBallet, Tap and Jazz classes for Primary School kids in Kindergarten and Year 1

Good things come in threes! Caper Juniors offers the convenience of three dance styles in 90 minutes. Each class has two teachers who are handpicked for their enthusiasm and rapport with students of this age. After school and Saturday classes are available at our locations in Castle Hill and Bella Vista (Norwest Business Park).

The classes component follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and the Glenn Wood Tap syllabus (GWT) so you have the peace of mind that your child is being taught in accordance with independent standards. There are exciting (optional) opportunities to perform on stage at a community event and the Annual Concert.

Students are nurtured at a studio that offers long-term growth and opportunities for the dancer. In addition to building their skills, the class places emphasis on each child’s cognitive and emotional development. And if you don’t want to do all three you can always choose just one or two classes.

AGED 7 AND BEYOND…Caper has a thriving base of recreational students who want to dance as a hobby but want to do so at a professional school with fantastic teachers. Everyone is welcome to our classes, whether it be for fun and fitness or to make new friends. Dance is a wonderful activity and is a great way to boost confidence and self esteem. We have non-competitive classes available in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, dance technique and acrobatics. Students are invited to perform at the Riverside Theatre at our Annual Concert production.

ADVANCED DANCERSWe offer many avenues for students who want to pursue dance at an advanced level. Exams are offered in the Glenn Wood Tap syllabus for tap and we have prepared students for these exams right up to the later levels. Ballet exams are offered through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and have students studying the whole range of the syllabus, from grades to majors. Students may also be selected for performance teams and competition work.

In addition to having a fabulous permanent faculty for our dancers, we also arrange master classes and guest teachers to provide additional experience, inspiration and training. In 2015 we hosted Marko Panzic, Michael Dameski, Robbie Kemtoni, Kieron Kulik, Sher Manu, Marko Panzic, Stephen Tannos and Ashleigh Tavares. We also provide workshops in audition skills and regular musical theatre excursions. 2016 will prove to be just as exciting!

MERIT SYSTEMWe are believers in positive reinforcement and utilise many methods to encourage and reward our students. At the end of the year all children receive a trophy engraved with their name, a treasured memento for our students and a highlight for many parents.

WAITING LISTSWaiting lists are taken for classes that have reached their capacity. People on the waiting list will be contacted if or when a position becomes available. Positions only become available if a current student in that class withdraws. There is no cost for going on the waiting list and applicants are under no obligation to enrol if a position is offered to them. Current Caper students and their siblings will be placed at the top of the queue. Each waiting list is valid for the calendar year only.

WHY CAPER?At Caper, we are committed to providing premium dance tuition in a friendly, professional and nurturing environment. However we are also equally committed to ensuring that the organisational side of the school meets those same standards. When contemplating enrolment at Caper we ask you to consider the following:

PWe have viewing windows at our Castle Hill studio as part of our child safety policy.

PWe accept all forms of payment including EFTPOS, online bank transfers and credit cards.

POur studios at Norwest and Castle Hill are fully equipped with mirrors and sprung floors.

PWe are aligned with reputable dance organisations (RAD & GWT). Even though most of our students do not participate in exams, all students have the reassurance that they are receiving tuition from a school willing to be held accountable to external teaching standards.

PWe train dancers of all ages, abilities and ambitions. Your child will be nurtured through every stage of their development from three years to pre-professional or recreational.

PPerformance opportunities for all dancers including those who do not participate in performance groups. These performances are optional.

PWe do not arrange any fundraising activities.PWe have a focus on positive reinforcement. We have have

implemented a merit system which sees each students at least receive a trophy engraved with their name. However other rewards are also granted for effort, achievement and participation.
