Unit 62: Digital Video Production for Interactive Media

September 20 th 2016

Task Two, Part Six.Complete the copyright and legal and ethical sheet.

1. What does ‘copyright’ mean?Copyright is a legal right created by the law of a country that grants the

creator of original work exclusive rights for its use and distribution.

2. Give three examples of different things, which you might include in your video and could be subject to copyright. Music, sound recordings and photographs.

3. List two websites that give copyright free music. YouTube Audio Library (https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music)

and Premium Beat (https://www.premiumbeat.com).

4. List a website where you can find free or low free photographs. OpenPhoto (https://www.OpenPhoto.net).

5. Explain what a location release form is and why it is needed for filming?A location release form is a binding contract between the photographer

and the owner(s) of private property within or upon which a photograph

or video was taken. By signing the release, the owner of the property

forgoes the right to sue for specific types of claims or forgoes the right

to request that the footage is not shown. This is important when

shooting a film or video as the last thing the creator wants is to have

certain scenes removed because for whatever reason the owner of the

property no longer wants it to be shown.

6. What is a contributor release form and why is it required?

The contributor release form is used to prove a person involved in the

filming of a video has given permission to be shown in the video on

different media platforms. For a person under 18 a parent or guardian

is required to fill out and sign the document for their child, if they wish

for the child to be included in the production. This is required as there

needs to be written proof that those involved in the video are

consenting, as if you do not have any proof it can cause complications

like actors wanting their scenes to be cut at a later date, which would

be a major inconvenience to a project.
