Indefinite articles in negative sentences…

• Indefinite articles: un, une & des

• Un, une & des become de or d’ (a, an, any) in a negative sentence.

• Ex. Tu as un frère?– Non, je n’ai pas de frère.

• Ex. Est-ce que Marcel a une tante?– Non, il n’a pas de tante.

• Ex. M. Rondeau a des enfants?– Non, il n’a pas d’enfants.

Interrogative adjective “Quel”

• “Quel” means “which” or “what” and is used to ask questions.

Quel = masc. sing. Quels = masc. pl.Quelle = fem. sing. Quelles = fem. pl.

• It comes BEFORE the noun it describes.– Ex. Tu préfères quel coiffeur?– Ex. Quelle femme d’affaires voyage

beaucoup?

“Quel” + “être”

The forms of “quel” may also come directly before the verb “être”. In this case, “quel” agrees with the noun after “être”. – Ex. Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?– Ex. Quelles sont les professions de tes
