THE CARPENTER’S BOAT SHOP Building boats, nurturing lives, helping others Seeking New Leader of The Carpenter’s Boat Shop The Carpenter’s Boat Shop, a boat-building apprentice shop in Pemaquid, Maine, is looking for an Executive Director to carry its unique program into its 5th and future decades. The Executive Director works with a talented staff to lead apprentices in building wooden boats as they deepen their understanding of themselves and others. Founded in 1979 by Rev. Robert Ives and his late wife Ruth, the Boat Shop is a residential community dedicated to “building boats, nurturing lives, helping others.” The program focuses on respect, responsibility, service to others, and personal growth. Members of the community welcome all visitors to their open, 30- acre campus (although temporarily limited by guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19). The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization funded by boat sales, fundraising, and a modest endowment. The Carpenter’s Boat Shop is committed to equality and is an equal opportunity employer. The Board of Directors encourages inquiries from candidates who will enrich and contribute to the cultural and ethnic diversity of the organization.
