Greetings gentle folk of St Paul,

Let me introduce myself; first, as is apparent from my inability to

join you in worship this day, is my passion for mission. As the

Great Plains Conference chairperson of disaster response and the

Central Region Disaster Coordinator, I was asked by our D.S.,

Rev. Lance Clay, to lead a district mission team to the Texas

Conference for Hurricane Harvey relief. It just so happens to co-

incide with this pastoral change. I have been involved in disaster

response ministries almost since the beginning of my ministry

within the Great Plains Conference for nineteen years. My heart

has always gone out to those who have had their lives disrupted

by disaster or other means. I believe Christ invites us to be his living presence to those in

need. As I like to say, be Jesus with skin on.

I was born in Salina, KS and raised in Wichita as a middle child in a family of three

siblings. My spouse, Rev. Dr. Trudy Kenyon Anderson, serves as pastor of Grand Island First-

Faith UMC. We met in seminary and married in the chapel at the seminary in 2003. We have

two wonderful daughters, Chelsea and Claire. Chelsea is a manager of The Buckle in southern

California. Claire is attending school to be a veterinarian of exotic animals. Both Trudy and I

graduated from Saint Paul school of Theology in Kansas City with our Master of Divinity de-

grees in 2004 and 2003 respectively, and again, this past May, with our Doctor of Ministry

degree in Revitalizing Congregations. Even with the doctoral degree conferred upon me my

preference will always be Pastor Russ. I like keeping things simple! Ultimately, I would like

to be known as friend, and called Russ.

Ministry is a second career for me after working for a number of years in the factories

of the Coleman Co. in Wichita, and then in the home health industry and medical sales. My

call story is just that a story, so I will share that with you later. Most likely in sermons.

I know this is a difficult time of transition, but I trust that God is in the midst of it all.

Please feel free to share your feelings with me as we journey through this together. I look for-

ward to seeing what God is up to as we serve Christ side-by-side in St. Paul and beyond. And

I really look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know you by name.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Russ

We are starting a new prayer request list. If you would

like your name added to this list, please let the church

office know.

Thank you

Note: We can only publish prayer concerns with the

permission of the people involved. Also, Pastor Lar-

mena often does not find out about hospitalizations.

HIPPA regulations do not allow the hospital to call

unless they are requested to do so. Please give him a

call (Church 754-4247). if you or someone you know is

in the hospital or desires a call. Thank you for your

January 28th, 2018 was Pastor

Larmena’s last Sunday as minister of our

church. After the church service, we had a pot-

luck meal. We were able to visit with him and

wish him well as he serves our country in Iraq.

United Methodist Church Prayer Chain

The purpose of the prayer chain is to offer special prayers for individuals in critical need. The chain cannot be activated

without the permission of the family in need. Call prayer requests to the church office 754-4247. The prayer request will

be called to the first person on these lists. Each caller then calls the next person on the list. If that person is unavailable,

a call should be placed to the following name and contact made with the first party later in the day. Last name on list

does not call anyone. We are in need of more people joining the prayer chain.

Praying for each other is an important ministry that we can do for our church family. If you would be interest-

ed in becoming part of this mission, please contact the church office.

We can do this!
