In Isaiah 55:10-11 God says,

“For as the rain and the snow

come down from heaven and

do not return there but water

the earth, making it bring forth

and sprout, giving seed to the

sower and bread to the eater,

so shall my word be that goes

out from my mouth; it shall

not return to me empty, but it

shall accomplish that which I

purpose, and shall succeed in

the thing for which I sent it.”

This beautiful passage of

Scripture reminds us of the

power of God’s WORD. You

have probably heard some-

one say, “A person’s word is

their bond.” When God

speaks, He is true to His

word. He is trustworthy. He

is faithful. Just as rain and

snow refresh the earth so

God’s word refreshes and

accomplishes its purpose.

Isn’t that wonderful?

When God commands us to

love He provides the power

and grace to love. When God

says “I will be with you al-

ways,” you can count on it!

When God reminds us to be

quick to forgive, it is for every-

one’s good and for God’s

glory. Jesus is called “the

word made flesh” and He is

faithful and true. The Holy

Spirit lives in each believer

and He reminds us of all Je-

sus has said and He guides

us into all truth.

We are not passive in this. God

wants us to receive the truth and

live in the truth. Seeds of faith are

nurtured in our lives by God. He

wants us to learn to live by faith.

Many of us live by what we see.

But living by faith is trusting what

we don’t yet see.

There will be a day when faith

becomes sight. Some have al-

ready experienced seeing things

come into reality that they first

embraced in faith. Like the per-

son who prays for a miracle and

then receives it or the individual

who believes God could change

their life and then sees it hap-

pening.

Seeds of faith planted in fertile

hearts will eventually bear fruit!

God’s fruit.

So don’t give up if you don’t see

immediate results. Keep pray-

ing, trusting and holding onto

faith. Let God’s word work its

way deep in your life. It will

“succeed in the thing for which it

was sent.”

This is active faith. Our mission

and purpose is “to lead people to

an active faith in Jesus Christ.”

So as winter fades (let’s hope

sooner than later) and spring

comes let’s get ready for new

seeds to be planted in our lives.

Hope to see you this weekend in

worship! ~jimd.
