united methodist church of the palm beaches march...
TRANSCRIPT
Dear Friends,
The season of Lent is about cleaning and renewing our heart and spirit before God, therefore I
encourage you to
pray Psalm 51. Pray this prayer that
David prayed as he cried out to God
for forgiveness and purification. God
so much wants to create in you a clean
heart, and renew a right spirit within
you, but only you can allow Him to do that. I can encourage you. I can show
you scripture passages of God’s love
and forgiveness. However, I can’t
make you clean or renewed. Only
God can renew you, and only if you
open yourself to His work in your life.
Now is the time for inner reflection
and purification.
Our Lent Sermon Series is called,
“What On Earth Am I Here For?” I am asking everyone in the
church to read through Rick Warren’s
book, “What On Earth Am I Hear
For?” or by the older title, “The
Purpose Driven Life.” (same
book) This series is to help you an-
swer one of life’s most perplexing
questions: What Am I Here
For? During 40 Days of lent you will
discover God’s eternal purposes for
your life.

The following is part of a press release from DCINY dated January 17, 2017: Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) announced today that director Mr. Cary Collins and the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches have been invited to partici-pate in a performance of Mark Hayes’ International Carol Suite on the DCINY Concert Series in New York City. This performance at Carnegie Hall is planned to take place on Sunday, November 19,
2017. These outstanding musicians will join with other choristers to form the Distinguished Concerts Singers Interna-tional, a choir of distinction. Conductor and Composer Mark Hayes will lead the performance and will serve as the clini-cian for the residency. Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY states: “The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musi-cianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional quality of their audition recording.”

“Thank you for organizing such a
wonderful event. My daughter had an opportunity to socialize that she rare-
ly has. Thanks a lot, it was a wonder-
ful night.” From a parent
“Thanks again for making us feel so
welcome. You did a great job organ-izing the event. So thankful for your
joy and heart for the Through the Roof ministry. Just fantastic! It was
great to get a look at what you're up to at the church. Loved it!” From
Brant Hansen
“Just wanted to thank you for letting
me be a part of such a special even-
ing!” From a volunteer
I thought I would share some of the
emails I have been receiving regarding our Night to Shine Prom. Because of
your support, we could welcome 103 guests with special needs. It was evi-
dent at Night to Shine God’s love poured through the members of the
United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches as we opened our doors and
hearts to a population that is often looked at as different. It was a night
to shine for our guests as they walked down the red carpet amidst the shouts and flashes of our paparaz-
zi and as they were crowned kings and queens of the prom. It was a
night to shine for our volunteers who were blessed beyond words as they
became the hands and feet of Jesus.
It was a night to shine for the parents
who could connect with other parents and watch the prom via live stream in
the parents’ room. It was a night where
we witnessed the Great Banquet.
In Luke, we read about Jesus telling the
parable of the Great Banquet. The first set of invitations were rejected. Then
the servants were instructed to go into the back streets and alleyways of the
town and invite “the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame” (Luke 14:21).
This parable describes the kingdom of heaven. Welcoming and loving those
who are differently abled and those on the outskirts of society is how Jesus de-
scribes the kingdom of heaven. In other
words, this is now our job.
Again, thank you for your support of
Through the Roof Ministries. Thank you
for living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
FUTURE EVENTS On Saturday, April 15, Through the Roof Ministry will be joining with our
Children’s Ministry to host a community Easter Egg Hunt. Over the next month,
we will be collecting plastic eggs: either empty or filled with wrapped candy
(NOT CHOCOLATE). Please bring to the gathering place and put in the
basket marked.
Very soon, Through the Roof will be sponsoring a Karaoke night.
More information will follow.
Do you know someone who has been absent from church for a while? Do you know someone who may need a visit? Do you know someone who should be on our homebound list? Jill began her job as Children’s Director at the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches in February 2007. Over these 10 years, her boys have grown up and she has helped mold all the children of UMCPB into God-loving young people. Jill’s main priority is children age 3 through 5th grade, but she has touched the lives of many people in our church. She cuddles the babies, teaches the children, cares for the youth, and provides support to the parents. She is always there with a listening ear, a big hug, and helpful advice. Jill has done so much for the children of UMCPB to help them grow in their understanding of God and relationship with Jesus Christ. What a blessing it is to have
her walk alongside the children of UMCPB as they grow.
We will be celebrating Miss Jill on March 12th following the 9:30
service with a picnic on the playground If you typically attend the 9:30
service, join us on the playground after the service. If you typically attend the 11:00
service, come early and stop by to celebrate with us.
