UNIVERSALFEATURES:• Knitted fibreglass cloth impreganated with

water-activated polyurethane resin• Activates within seconds and hardens within

minutes• Withstands high pressures• Bonds to ALL pipes (PVC, steel, copper, lead,

cast iron etc)• Seals cracks, holes and leaks at T’s and

elbows• Works on hot and cold water pipes• Works on underwater applications

BENEFITS:• Drinking water safe• Heat resistant• Reduces downtime• Durable• Inexpensive• All-in-one kit• Fix it yourself• Easy to use• Quick to set• Permanent repair for water pipe• Non hazardous • Field based repair system for leaks, pipe

reinforcement and corrosion

WHAT IS IT?:PIPEFIX is a fast, easy, durable and cost effective pipe repair system

TESTED PRESSURE RATING:Maximum pressure rating for repairs is 450 PSI (31 bar) with 24 layer application. Results may vary depending on hole size, type of pipe, number of layers applied, contents of the pipe and method of application.SHELF LIFE:Two years when stored between 5oC - 28oC and aluminium packet is not punctured. Storage at higher than recommended temperatures will reduce shelf life.CAUTIONS:Heat is generated as the product hardens. Uncured polyurethane resin may cause skin irritation. Avoid eye and skin contact. Enclosed gloves intended for use with repair tape only. Use only as described. SGI Industries Ltd is not resonsible for misuse of this product or any use other than its stated purpose. SGI Industries Ltd will not be liable for consequential or incidental loss or damage of any kind resulting from the use of this product.

PIPE

FIX

UNIVERSALPIPEFIX makes pipe repair simple in 4 easy-to-follow steps

PREPARE THE SURFACE...Turn off pipe flow if possible and then roughen the surface all around the leak or damaged area. Degrease if appropriate.

PLUG THE LEAK...Knead epoxy putty into a uniform texture to active at the hardener and plug the leak. If the repair is being performed live, push the epoxy putty into the surface of the wrap and apply directly over repair area. Pull the bandage around and over the repair area applying pressure with every wrap and pulling tight at each turn. Twisting the bandage over itself at the point of the repair will increase the tension and aid successful repair.

Repair along length of pipe Repair at T joint

WRAP THE PIPE...Dip Pipefix roll in water and squeeze it to activate resin, then wrap the leak tightly.

FINISH THE JOB...Rub the tape and foaming resin with a twisting motion to smooth as resin hardens, then allow repair to set.

PIPE

FIX

UNIVERSAL

1) Turn off or reduce the pipe pressure if possible and when necessary.

2) Roughen pipe surface using a file for metal pipes and / or sandpaper for PVC pipe (Pipefix adheres best to rough surfaces).

3) Putty should first be kneaded together for at least 2 minutes until evenly mixed and uniform grey in colour. Plug hole or crack with putty, then scrape off excess putty from pipe. Keep putty flush to pipe surface.

4) Put on Pipefix’s exclusive gloves that are provided for remaining steps before opening foil pouch.

5) Open foil pouch, dip roll in cool water for 20 seconds and squeeze 2-3 times to distribute water evenly through roll of tape.

6) Tighten and quickly apply tape around leak, winding the wrap itself with no more than 1/2 inch applied to either side of initial tape width. The completed application must be at least 1/2 inch thick or about 15 layers minimum.

7) Keeping gloves wet with water, rub foaming resin back into weave of Pipefix fabric.

8) As resin becomes firm, continue rubbing with a twisting and squeezing motion to smooth the tape. Keep gloves wet. Once resin is completely hard, continue squeezing smoothly for 1-2 minutes for best results. A slight exotherm (heat) occurs.

9) Allow a minimum of 30 minutes to cure. Turn pressure back on to the pipe.

If misapplied, Pipefix can be removed with saw or shears. Use isopropyl alcohol or acetone to remove resin from skin or clothes.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:Important: read all directions before applying this product. Hardening process begins once foil pouch is opened. Use entire roll for each repair. Large diameter pipe may require additional rolls.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDEProblem:

Roll hardened before completion of repair

Repair continues to leak.

Repair weeps or bleeds liquid through weave of fabric.

Solution:

Reduce application time by wrapping more quickly.

Repair is not wrapped tightly enough. Remove old application and apply a new application more tightly and firmly.

Repair does not have enough layers of Pipefix tape. Remove old application and apply a new wrap with a minimum of 15 layers. Do not spread material beyond 1/2 inch of the original width of the tape size being used. (Example: 2” wide tape, repair should be no more than 3” wide). The higher the pipe pressure the more plys are required to effect a repair. For example - a 4 “ pipe @ 150psi will need 2 large repair bandages to stop the leak”
