INSTRUCTIONS: Read the next conversations and pay attention to the words in red that are used to express obligations.

Monica is a new employee at the Greenville Hotel. She’s asking Michelle Rivera a question.

Monica: Hi Michelle! . Can I ask you a question?

Michelle: Sure. What do you want to know?

Monica: Am I allowed to wear sneakers?

Michelle: No, you aren't’ . You have to wear black shoes.

A NEW EMPLOYEE

LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB Maria: Hi Martin! How it’s going?

Martin: Not so good. I think I need a new job.

Maria: Why? What’s the problem with your job?

Martin: I have a lot of responsibilities and most of time I am stressed. So I

need to take a break.

Maria: What’s is your job?

Martin: I am a personal assistant. That’s like a secretary but with a lot of

things to do I must be punctual all the time to check the workers in. I have

to organize all the information, I have to have excellent memory to

remember the most important information of my boss. That’s too much for

me, well I am starting to feel stressed.

Maria: You are right. I think you need to have a week break because you

might be sick.
