Academic life at UFS - The university by

our eyes

This article is to show how is the academic life at UFS, by the eyes of a

group of students from dierents courses and periods.

At a bus stop, this is where our journey begins toward the universe that

teems within the UFS Federal University of Sergipe!. "e e#pect the bus to

arrive, it ta$es a bit but not much, the biggest problem is that it almost

always full at pea$ time. %y bus is li$e the vast majority of students arrive

at UFS, so that is the main entrance to the university is a bus terminal

which is now undergoing a renovation, as almost all the UFS, but soon wewill spea$ of the buildings!.

There is another driveway just east of this entrance of the terminal, but it is

here that students often pass. Two narrow doors ensures a tight and heavy

&ow during most of the day but after entry, the university is full of space.

'oing forward, we (nd a path covered with blue tiles that leads to didactics,

where most classes happens. The didactic are )uite dierent, depending on

when were built or renovated. First we found are the * and + which are the

newest. Them the rooms are tidy, have airconditioned and there is ample

internal space, where it was made and a beautiful garden where there is

also an auditorium.

"al$ing to the east of the (ve didactic, we (nd the didactics - and , made

a longer, are basically a building with rooms without internal garden, only

the overlapping rooms and murals warning, but the structure is good.

/ontinuing we run into many areas still empty, but already we see the

The 01iv2ncia3, as the center is $nown, is a large space that acts as a 4mini

mall4 within the university. There is a branch of the ban$ of %ra5il, somestores, li$e boo$stores and coee shops, there is also a stage where some

presentations happen occasionally, there is a large empty space, separately

for people to see the presentations. Some buildings surround the 1iv2ncia as

the 6aterials 7ngineering department and the new department of

computing. %ut, in general there is little movement there, a few students eat

in the diner, and in fact the largest &ow of people there will just settle for

something in the ban$.

8utside of 1iv2ncia there are some par$ing lots, but we will move towardmore one moves regions. The western of 1iv2ncia, we found the building

the same space is the auditorium of A9UFS and the sta room.

So we are almost (nishing our visit, but at UFS we have a lot of things yet. A

new didactic is been made, we have new laboratories, at UFS also wor$s a

public school the best in the state, according with 7?76 results!, we have

places to sports as a soccer camp and a sport courts and we have several

trees and many space to e#plorer.

0The Federal University of Sergipe is my 3rd home. Maybe secondMostly

of my time I spend at work or stdying. I am only at home to sleep! eat and

portgese acronyme%. I already was a Informatic Technician! so when I

started the Information&s Systems corse I had a base! bt despite of this! I

was srprised of many was. My class was very di'erent of what I e(pected !

I have friends from IFS! bt we have in the class many people that work the

whole day and after still gathers strength to go to niversity and stdy. They

are trying con)er a better life. I hoped that the laboratories wold be

better! bt this is a challenge for s! we need have or own compters anddevelop or pro*ects by orselves! while the new department is been
