Hello University Club Members! The Summer is finally here and the busy outdoor activities are upon us. It has been a great Spring here at the Club! We are proud to say we had record breaking numbers for both Easter and Mother’s Day Brunches, so thank you to all who attended. Business events are tapering off a bit for the summer, but wedding receptions are in full swing here at the Club! Food and Beverage Minimums are due on Friday, June 30th. We would love for you to take advantage of the Club and come see us! See our June hours below; hours for July and August will be limited. Join us for Beer & Burger Night on Thursday, June 8th as a great way to use up your minimum! On Tuesday, June 6th from 5-7PM, we will be

hosting our annual Strolling Wine Tasting Open House as another great way to use up your minimum. You won’t want to miss the great wine selections! Thank you to our web designer, Andrea Napierkowski, for our new website! If you have not done so already, please take a minute to browse and let us know what you think. We are hoping this website freshens up our look and is easy to navigate. www.UniversityClubGR.com I would like to take this opportunity to remind you as a UClub member you have reciprocal club privileges with over 100 clubs nationwide and several worldwide. When planning your summer vacations and trips, give us a call to see if there are any clubs nearby your vacation destination. Reciprocal club listings can also be found on our website: www.UniversityClubGR.com. The Club has been working hard to increase visibility to local organizations and businesses in order to increase our membership and event business. If you have upcoming events that you are planning or know of someone who is, give us a call and we can help with all the arrangements. Just a quick reminder, when taking a parking validation ticket from the Club, please do not put the ticket near a cell phone as it can demagnetize and no longer function. I look forward to seeing all of you around the club and please never hesitate to stop by and say “Hello” or reach out with any questions or concerns. Have a safe and fun Summer! Sincerely, Taylor Babcock Marketing Director

The University Club Cooking class “All About Desserts” held on May 23, 2017, was a fabulous event. I was

delighted to be there with my friends, a family member and fellow Club members. Chef Mike and Cheftess Joanna

are awesome culinary masters and provided us with recipes, new cooking techniques and the added bonus of

eating the delicious desserts that were made! I would HIGHLY recommend this class, and any others the Club

offers. Thank you, UC staff, for making our night terrific!

ATHLETIC CLUB | 616-456-8311 | [email protected]

We all do it. We dream of what our body can do and what our body can look like. However, without a plan those dreams may never become reality. Let me help you develop your successful health and fitness plans.

What are your Fitness Dreams? by Jason Goodell, Athletic Club Director

Step One: DEFINE YOUR GOALS! Try setting your goals in increments of 3-6 weeks, 3-6 months and 1 year. Write down your goal weight or post a picture somewhere of your goal look. Also write down your current weight, body measurements and even take a photo of your current self. Along with fitness goals, write down your nutritional goals as well. Either use a journal for tracking or there are many great apps on your phone. It helps to track everything you eat and don’t forget to track your water intake! Step Two: After about 3 weeks of exercising and eating right, evaluate where you are, what changes have been made and what needs to continue to change. At this point you can make the decision whether you need to hire a trainer or nutritionist to guide or help motivate you. It is extremely important that you don’t give up at this stage. Many people give up because the results are not coming fast enough or at all. But remember, hang in there! Reevaluate your plan. Are you sticking to it? Do you need to adjust? Getting professional help or a workout buddy that can be your accountability partner is a great way to stay on track. Step Three: DO THE WORK! No matter how hard it gets, don’t give up. Continuously remind yourself of your goals and why you are doing this. Keep your head up…you can do it! Don’t forget to eat right because almost 80 % of your results will come from eating correctly. Step Four: Continue to track your achievements and reevaluate your plans. Take your measurements again, check your body weight and evaluate your eating habits. Is there any room for improvement? Never hesitate to ask others for advice and never stop dreaming! Fitness is not only about losing a few pounds, its all about a healthy lifestyle that will help you live longer and happier!
