ACADEMIC HISTORY
Introduction
7th and 8th Grade: If you took any high school-level math or a language other than English courses in 7th or 8th grade, you can enter them on this page. We want to make sure we count these courses toward meeting our "a-g" subject requirement, which is one of our admission requirements. (Math and language other than English are the only subject requirements that can be met in middle school and high school). I recommend that all students say “NO.” HTLA Math/Language courses at HTLA
meet A-G requirements.
ACADEMIC HISTORY
High School Enter in High Tech High LA or 051526
to locate HTLA.
If you attended another high school before coming to HTLA, please also add that high school.
If you attended summer school at another high school such as Opportunities for Learning or Options for Youth, please also add that high school.
If you made up a class using BYU HS Suite (online class at HTLA) you DO NOT need to add that as another high school attended.

Internship is a HTLA graduation requirement, not an A-G requirement.
If you are taking a college course this semester, you will be able to make note of that in the next section.
Please do not worry if you do not see an elective class listed. It may not be a UC “approved” course, BUT the UC’s will see that you have chosen to take a full course load including enriching electives all four years of high school from your transcript. This includes classes such as TA, tutor, Coding, Es Stan of Mat/English, etc.
COLLEGES ATTENDED IN HIGH SCHOOL
If you are currently enrolled in a college course or have taken a college course during a previous semester or summer, please add it here.
If you attended more than one college, please list all colleges attended.
If you are planning to take a college course next semester, please DO NOT add the college or the course.
If you have never taken a college course (even if you are planning to take one next semester), do not add any colleges attended to your application.
Please enter in all courses completed and grades received. Please make your best guess for which subject area this course falls under. This is seen
as an EXTRA class.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Please see Ms. Miramontes or email her for your SSID number. You are unable to view this SSID number on PowerSchool.
Please add the statement below to the Additional Comment Section:
HTLA is a diverse community of active learners with students who are productive, self-directed learners, engaged in rigorous, relevant work. HTLA is home to 376 students in grades 9-12. 50% of students qualify for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch program. All students receive a rigorous college-bound curriculum and must meet or exceed the A-G requirements as their high school graduation requirements. In addition to our college prep required coursework, students can choose to take up to 11 honors courses. HTLA does not offer any AP courses.
SAT/ACT TEST SCORES
Please log into your College Board or ACT account to access your test scores. Do not “guess” or “try to remember” what your scores were.
Please enter in your SAT/ACT scores and test date.
Please make note if you are “planning” to take the SAT/ACT but will not have your scores by November 30th.
SAT/ACT TEST SCORES
If you have taken or are planning on taking SAT Subject Tests, please enter in the score and/or the test date.
HTLA DOES NOT HAVE: AP Exams
IB Exams
TOEFL or IELTS
International Exams
So… please say “NO” in these sections. Please keep in mind that many students from all over the world fill out this application. Some of the options will not apply to every student. Not a negative thing on your application.
ACTIVITIES AND AWARDS
The UC application is comprehensive which means they will consider your activities, awards, and essays as part of the review process in addition to grades and test scores.
Please make sure to have a copy of your resume handy to fill out this section.
You are able to list up to 20 activities and awards. Only list true and honest activities and awards.
This section can include things like awards you have won, educational programs (not HTLA classes), hobbies, clubs, sports, volunteer work, community service, work experience, etc.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND PROGRAMS
The UC’s offer a variety of scholarships. In this section you can identify which scholarships you think you should qualify for. Please go through the list carefully and choose the scholarships you wish to be considered for.
If you are unsure about some of the categories/scholarships, no worries.
These possible scholarships will be in ADDITION to your FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid) and any other private scholarships you apply to.
EOP
EOP and similar campus programs provide assistance through mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising, and other campus support services to those who are first-generation college students, and/or from low-income and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. EOP serves students from all ethnic backgrounds, and is open only to California residents and to American Indians from any state.
This is an optional program.
If you are interested/qualify, please select EOP and write a short statement about why you are interested in being considered for the program.
PERSONAL INSIGHT QUESTIONS
Please respond to any 4 of the 8 questions – 350 words each.
This is where you will COPY AND PASTE your polished and completed UC Personal Insight Questions.
This is NOT a place where you begin writing your UC Personal Insight Questions.
Please note, the question sections have a timer. If you are writing your response in the section and the timer ends, you will loose what you have written.
PERSONAL INSIGHT ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
This section is OPTIONAL.
This is NOT a space where you answer a 5th
Personal Insight Question OR continue explaining more about a previous Personal Insight Question.
This could be used to explain something that is not found anywhere else in your application. Examples: You came down with the flu at the end
of 10th grade, and you want them to know this is why there was a dip in your grades.
If you are unsure if you should add additional comments in this section, please see Ms. Miramontes.
REVIEW AND SUBMIT!
Please take some time to review your application before you submit. Make sure your social security number/birth date / name
is correct.
Did you list all high schools you attended? Did you note summer school courses?
Look over your academic section to ensure that you listed your courses accurately.
Did you include all activities and awards you can think of?
Make sure that your Personal Insight Questions were copied and pasted under the appropriate question.
Completed sections will have a check mark. Sections that are not completed, will not have a check mark.
SUBMIT YOUR UC APPLICATION!
Please follow the steps to submit your application. You can submit between November 1st – 30th. Please DO NOT wait until November 30th to submit
If you did not qualify for a fee waiver (or applied to more than 4 UC’s), you will need to have a credit card ready to enter in the payment information.
Once you submit your application, I encourage you to download a .PDF copy of your applications for your records.
CHECK YOUR EMAIL! The UC’s you applied to will send you information via EMAIL about your next steps and
how to set up your college portal. This is usually where you will be able to view your admission decision and your financial aid package. College portals are your FRIEND!
Yay, Congratulations! You are finished with you UC Application!
