Hats off to University of Guelph geography professor Barry Smit – he’s been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, recognizing him as one of the world’s leading authorities on climate change. This award honours scholars for original thought, work and leadership that has advanced their field and enriched Canada’s cultural and intellectual life. Barry, who has done extensive work in Canada’s North, is the first U of G professor

to win this award. Congratulations Barry!
