4-H Project Reminders – what should you be doing with your projects this fall? Attend upcoming Record Book, Senior Portfolio, Essay and Resume writing workshops! Public Speaking – make sure you have a designated public speaking event for the projects you plan to complete in

your Record Book. Ask your club leader to do a demo, illustrated talk, speech or project update at a club meeting.

The 2015 Lambing & Kidding School, Saturday, December 5 at North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD is open for registration. The biennial school will feature separate, concurrent educational tracks for adults and youth (8-18). The main speaker for the adult program will be Dr. Richard Ehrhardt, Small Ruminant Specialist at Michigan State University. The youth program will be mostly hands-on. Pre-registration is required by November 20. The registration fee is $40 for adults and $30 for youth. The registration fee includes morning refreshments, lunch, door prizes, and resource materials (on a flash drive). There is an additional (optional) $20 material charge for youth. book for the 1st time. We will be concentrating on how to complete the 4-H Mini-Record Book. Sign-up by 10/19/15 at noon. *Look for additional record book workshops in November for specific age record books.

Service Learning: 16 th Annual 4-H Toy Drive 2nd Planning Committee Meeting – Tuesday October 27 th , 7-8 pm, Extension Office. ALL 4-H’ers are encouraged to be a part of the 4-H Toy Drive. Will have float in Nov. 28th Chestertown Christmas parade – theme “Toy to the World!”(thanks Thomas Martinez). At this meeting will be wrapping and distributing toy collection boxes.

MD STEM Festival: Kent County – Thursday November 12, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, Public Works Complex Meeting RoomThis is a statewide festival being celebrated here in Kent County to showcase 4-H STEM. We are looking for clubs and older 4-H’ers to help man hands-on STEM stations and of course, elementary and middle-school age youth to attend. All supplies and snacks will be provided. This is a great opportunity to exhibit leadership, earn service hours, and show others your science passion! Please sign-up by November 1st to help out! Ideas: animal science, national 4-H science experiments (wired for wind, hydrogels, motion commotion, etc…)At the Chestertown Location!
