White House Honors Physicist Biophysicist Sonya Bahar received awards from the White

House and St. Louis Academy of Science for her innovative research on the workings of individuals with healthy brain functions and patients with epilepsy.

Criminologist Wins St. Louis Award UMSL Criminologist Richard Rosenfeld received a “Sold on

St. Louis” award from the St. Louis RCGA for his efforts to counter an index that ranks the most dangerous cities in the United States.

UMSL Student AchievementsUMSL Student AchievementsOptometry Student Aces Exam Michael McFarland received the top score among 1,300 student

optometrists taking the first phase of the national licensure exam in 2007. UMSL’s first-time pass rate as a whole was 91%, compared to the national average of 84%.

was 93% – the sixth consecutive year scores exceeded 90% and were greater than the state & national average

UMSL Singers Make Some Noise The University Singers performed at the

Missouri Educators Association Conference. The 65-member group also conducted a nine-stop, 3-state tour, including performing with the Memphis Cotton Boll Chorus.
