    Switching ON system

    Overview:

    1. Sympodium (interactive monitor)

    2. AMX touch screen panel

    3. Keyboard

    4. Mouse

    Touch AMX touch screen panel to ‘wake it up’

    Touch AMX touch screen panel again

    Press ‘OK’ to continue (The projector screen will automatically come down – if not already down)

    Displaying lectern PC

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Turn on lectern PC (possibly located in lectern cupboard) by pressing the ON switch

    Press ‘DATA’ on AMX touch screen panel (The data projector will automatically switch on – if not already on)

    Press ‘PC’

    Log in using your username and password If no image is displayed on sympodium (interactive display), make sure it is switched on (see ‘sympodium user guide’ for further instructions)

    To switch between lectern PC and laptop press ‘DATA’, then either ‘PC’ or ‘LAPTOP’

    Displaying a laptop

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Connect following cables:

    1. Data projector 2. Network (may not be available) 3. Audio (may not be available) 4. Power (may not be available)

    If using an apple MAC laptop, you will need your own VGA adapter to connect to the data video cable

    Press ‘DATA’ on AMX touch screen panel (The projector screen will automatically come down – if not already down)

    Press ‘LAPTOP’ (The data projector will automatically switch on – if not already down)

    To switch between lectern PC and laptop press ‘DATA’, then either ‘PC’ or ‘LAPTOP’

    To adjust volume, see page 7

    If no signal is detected, hold ’Fn’ (function) and press appropriate ‘F’ key repeatedly until

    desktop image is displayed on both laptop and projector

    o Fn & F3/F5 (Acer) o Fn & F4 (Compaq/ HP) o Fn & F5 (Toshiba) o Fn & F7 ( Sony) o Fn & F8 (DELL) o Command (Apple sign) & F7 (Apple Mac)

    Playing a DVD or VHS tape

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Turn on either;

    1. DVD player 2. VCR player

    (possibly located in lectern cupboard) by pressing the ON switch and insert disc/tape

    Press either; ‘VCR’ or ‘DVD’ on AMX touch screen panel

    Use the menu screen as you would an ordinary remote control Press ‘More’ to gain access to further controls

    Again, simply press the buttons you require

    Press ‘BACK’ to return to the previous menu

    To adjust volume, see page 7

    Playing a CD or cassette tape

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Turn on CD/cassette tape player (possibly located in lectern cupboard) by pressing the ON switch and insert disc/ cassette tape

    Press either; ‘CD’ or ‘TAPE’ on AMX touch screen panel

    Use the menu screen as you would an ordinary remote control Press ‘More’ to gain access to further controls

    Again, simply press the buttons you require

    Press ‘BACK’ to return to the previous menu

    To adjust volume, see page 7

    Displaying an external audio/video device

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Connect your external audio/video device (e.g. video camera) to the auxiliary port (possibly located in lectern cupboard) using a composite audio/video cable (shown below)

    Connect yellow – yellow (Video) Connect red – red (Audio) Connect white – white (Audio) (This connection may also come in black)

    Switch on your external audio/video device and press ‘VIDEO’ on AMX touch screen panel

    Press ‘SHOW AUX’

    Adjusting volume

    Press ‘VOLUME’ on AMX touch screen panel

    Press ‘+’ or ’–‘ on to adjust volume level for LAPEL (microphone), DATA (PC/Laptop), CD, Cassette (tape), VHS, and DVD playback

    Displaying dual projection

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Press ‘DUAL PROJECTION MODE’ on lectern AMX touch screen panel

    Press ‘TURN ON DUAL PROJECTOR ON’ to switch on dual projection mode (if not already on)

    Press either; ‘PC’, ‘LAPTOP’ or ‘VISUALISER’

    Displaying visualiser

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Press ‘VISUAL’ on AMX touch screen panel (The visualiser will automatically switch on)

    If AMX touch screen panel displays the image on the left hand side – Press either; ‘+’ or ‘-’ to adjust zoom level Press ‘AF’ to auto adjust focus Press ‘Lights’ to either switch off or select how many lights required Press ‘More’ to gain access to further controls

    Press either; ‘+’ or ‘-’ to adjust iris level Press ‘AWB’ to adjust auto white balance Press ‘AI’ to adjust auto iris Press ‘BACK’ to return to the previous menu

    If AMX touch screen panel displays the image on the left hand side – Press either; ‘+’ or ‘-’ to adjust zoom level Use controls to ‘Auto Focus’, ‘Auto White’ (white balance), and ‘Rotate Image’ Press ‘Show Text’ when presenting text Press ‘Show Objects’ when presenting an object Press ‘Control Lights’ to either switch off or select how many lights required

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Press ‘LIGHTS’ on lectern AMX touch screen panel

    Press either; ‘OFF’, ‘DIM’ or ‘FULL’ to adjust light level

    Controlling projector screen/s

    Switch on the system first (see page 1)

    Press ‘SCREEN’ on lectern AMX touch screen panel (The projector will switch on if not already on)

    Press either; ‘UP’ or ‘DOWN’ to adjust projector screen/s

    Switching OFF system

    Shut down teaching PC by clicking ‘START’ – ‘SHUT DOWN’ – ‘SHUT DOWN AND POWER OFF’

    Press ‘EXIT’ on the bottom right of lectern AMX touch screen panel

    Press ‘SHUTDOWN SYSTEM’

    Press ‘OK’ (The data projector and screen will automatically switch off)
