Elected officials from the four Peninsula cities were also in attendance. Presented by Malaga Bank and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente South Bay, Continental Development Corporation, Southern California Gas Company, Southern California Edison and the Water Replenishment District of Southern California, this Legislative Forum included networking, lunch, panel presentations and a Q&A session at the Torrance Marriott South Bay. Eileen Hupp, President/CEO of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce welcomed the group and thanked the Forum Chairs, PVP Chamber Board Members, Sherry Kramer from Continental Development Corporation and Kelly Curtis Intagliata from Marymount College, after the Chamber’s King of the Hill, Charles Eldred, led the Pledge of Allegiance. Marilyn Lyon, PVP Chamber Chairman of the Board, acknowledged distinguished guests. F or the third consecutive year, the top performing thrift was found in Palos Verdes Estates. Malaga Financial Corporation scored the victory in SNL Financial’s ranking of the 100 biggest thrifts by asset size for calendar-year 2011. The ranking is based on six financial metrics for a 12 month period and consists of return on average assets (ROAA), return on average tangible common equity (ROATCE), efficiency ratio, median three-year growth rate in tangible book value (TBV) per share, non-performing loans to total loans (NPLs/ loans) and net charge-offs (NCOs) to average loans. The first four criteria were weighted at 20% each, while the two asset quality statistics were at 10% each. Malaga Bank opened its first office in Palos Verdes Estates on March 14, 1985. They offer a variety of personal banking products, business banking products and loan products that compare favorably with those at larger financial institutions. invited to participate in the 25th Annual Palos Verdes Street Fair & Music Festival on Saturday, June 9 and 10. The event is presented by Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance and produced by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, over 40,000 people attend the event in downtown Rolling Hills Estates, drawn to the variety and quality of artisans and craftspeople, continuous live entertainment, an international food court and beer/wine garden, free children’s petting zoo and pony rides, the whimsical “Top Dogs” dog show, and the largest carnival in the South Bay. New this

year is the addition of a Community Plaza featuring local entertainment, county fair-type food competitions, and pet adoptions both days.
