Legally Blonde
What a fantastic show! Congratulations to the staff and students involved in this year’s Music Production of Legally Blonde.
Opening Night was last night and it was an absolute hit! Well done to all involved.
For those of you fortunate enough to be in the audience, you would agree with me that the show was a huge success. The combination of superb acting, singing, dancing, sets, music, lighting, sound and overall quality of the performance was just a delight to watch and was a true reflection of all the hard work and long hours put in by everyone involved.
Over 100 staff and students, (past and present), and many parents have worked tirelessly over the past 10 months, giving up precious family time, weekends and holidays, to make our production the best it could be and the success that it is. Thank you to all who contributed, and in particular:
Wendy Van Dyk – Executive Producer
Emily Wilkinson –Director/Vocal Coach/Choreography
Joanne Ghiocas – Musical Director
Greta Georgiou – Assistant Director/Producer
Emma Jones and Leah Kemp – Assistant Producers
Tobiah Elliott – Choreographer
Kim Miles – Assistant Choreographer
Glen Johnson and Con Zanetidis – Props and Backstage
On behalf of the entire student body, I thank you all for your continued commitment and hard work. It was a fantastic effort by all and very much appreciated.
Thank you to all the students involved, you continue to surprise us all with your talents and commitment to the school. The production team will have a very difficult time selecting the award winners – you are all winners in my eyes!
If you attended the show, please see the program for a full list of all students and staff involved in making this year’s musical the success that it is.
Keep an eye out for highlight pictures of the show in the next newsletter.
There are still a few tickets for the Saturday matinee and evening performances. Go to trybooking.com for tickets.

Year 8K Science Digestive system 8K science prac: “Gums to Bums” 29/6/17
8K students revised the various parts of the digestive system and their functions during this practical. We started with a cheeseburger “Happy Meal” …
The blender represented the teeth… the tube was the oesophagus, the tub was the stomach …
… mixed in some gastric juices … … then into the intestines it went (no volunteers here!)
… nutrients, minerals & water were absorbed … … and the waste was expelled.
A fun way to explore the use of scientific models, reinforce the course content learned in class, and a sad end for the “Happy Meal”.

Year 10 Italian Excursion
On Tuesday the 18th of July, the year 10 Italian
students went on an inspiring excursion to the
Darebin Arts Centre to hear graduates from
Melbourne University talk about their
experiences in learning Italian and how it has
helped them in life. We also got to engage in
cultural activities and had the chance to interact
with other Italian students from other schools.
We watched some amazing Italian films and
heard some Italian music performed by a band
as well as some Gladstone Park SC Students. We
really enjoyed our day as it helped us get a feel
of the Italian culture and persuaded us to
continue to learn Italian in the future.
