Release Notes

The release notes contain information that can be crucial to a successful installation. Whether it is a new install or an upgrade

The release notes contain a listing of some of the new features, problem resolutions, as well as some know issues.

This document will also include system requirements and basic installation instructions.

Always check the release notes before performing an upgrade or new install!

Backups

Always make backups of the database. It is also a good idea to have a copy of the

install directory from which FireRMS is currently loaded.

This includes the cache files.

The Create/Update tab is where you lock and update the database. Locking the database in required for certain functions from within SQL Utilities. There is also a new reindex option for use during upgrades.

User Defined Tabs

If you have any work-in-progress User Defined Tabs, you must reset permissions for those User Defined Tabs by selecting Reset Permissions on the SQL

Utilities, Maintenance tab.

If you do not reset permissions, a crash will occur during the upgrade

The maintain tab has some very handy tools that can be used in lieu of SQL Server Enterprise Manager/Management Studio.

Upgrade or Clean Install?

Page 10: Updating FireRMS Presented by Dan Cook Implementation Team Lead ZOLL

This is a common message on new installs and

on clean upgrades. If you see this message, you should check the security rights for the FireRMS5SQL folder and make sure that the group Everyone has Full Access.

Permissions

After upgrading a client, if you get a message saying that the client is out of date, simply restart the client and that should fix it.

ZMS and Firerms Client

The upgrade client MUST be loaded on your ZMS server.

Best practice is to register the firerms.exe within ZMS.

Support Tips

If you have firerms client issues after upgrade. 1. Delete cache files C:\firerms5sql\rms5sql 2. Locate this file firedbcversion.txt in C:\

firerms5sql directory. Open this file and remove version number and

save it blank. Launch firerms 2 times and it will rebuild all the

client views. 3. Remove the firerms5_DSN and recreate it.
