LEVEL : 1

2. JOB DESCRIPTION

A construction carpenter as per instruction prepares different type of wood stock, wooden members and laminating to required

prepared size and installs panels, simple common hardware accessories to the wooden fixtures and prepares lay-out, walling materials and surfaces for painting & cleans working area.

3 LIST OF TASK 1 Preparing wood stock and laminating members for the construction of various fixtures as per instruction.

2 Installing different types of prepared window/ door panels, shutter, sliding door/window.

3 Cutting ply-wood, teak ply, metalic sheet, plain wooden panel board other boards and wire mesh to required sized and

installing them in the frames.

4 Installing simple common hardware accessories to the wooden fixtures.

5 Preparing wooden pegs ( Pointed posts ), corner posts, levelling pegs, poling boards, wedges, struts, vertical and horizontal sheeting ( for laying timbering in foundation).

6 Preparing surfaces for painting.

JOB TITLE : CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER L-1 PREPARING WOOD STOCK AND LAMINATING MEMBERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTIONS OF VARIOUS

WOODEN FIXTURES AS PER INSTRUCTION. 6 TASK ELEMENTS

1.1 Receives verbal instructions/sketches.

1.2 Select and/ or collects appropriate hand tools, equipment and required materials.

1.3 Sharpens different cutting tools.

1.4 Marks on wooden piece as per instruction.

1.5 Cuts previously marked stock to appropriate length and breadth.

1.6 Assists on planning wood stock.

1.7 Houses previously marked simple wooden joints by chiseling and sawing.

1.8 Joins wooden members to increase the required size, for temporary work (trial fitting).

1.9 Assemble the prepared joints.

2.1 Distance between the members of the frame measured to determine the length and breadth and marked accordingly to the frame, shutter & panels within + 2mm.

2.2 Required wooden frame cuts according to the door & window frame/shutter within + 2mm.

2.3 Rebate/groove portion cleaned and putty applied uniformly without excess putty.

2.4 Prepared panels, selected according to the size of frame, inserted without damaging and scratching panels which fit to the plumb and line.

2.5 Shutter/panel/sliding pannel installed firmly and tightly to the line and level without damaging gap.

Foreign materials removed from the surface to uniform smoothness with appropriate tools.

Surfaces washed to wet foreign materials to wipe them off easily.

Remaining wet foreign materials wiped from the surface with jute and/or cotton cloth.

Putty, chalk powder and/or sawdust with glue applied to the surface to filling holes and up surface.

Filling material scrap if necessary.

6.5 Apply putty, stain and/or saw dust with glue to filling holes and even up surface.

6.6 Scrap filling material if necessary.

6.7 Smooth the surface to the required smoothness with appropriate sandpaper/steel wool.
