Congratulations to Hunter Boivin!

Northeastern University in Boston, MA has awarded Hunter Boivin the extraordinary invitation to join the Northeastern University Scholars Program (USP). “USP is a full-tuition scholarship program that is among the most intellectually bold and distinguished undergraduate scholarship programs in the country.” Hunter is one of only 167 students who were selected from more than 22,000 early action applicants. Students in Mrs. Rouse's World History classes worked in a simulation activity to uncover the disparities that existed in French Society prior to the French Revolution. Three lucky students drew cards that granted them the privilege of the First Estate allowing them the ability to relax and play games during class. The remaining students filled in as the Third Estate, the working class of France, and were forced to complete detailed work in cramped conditions. Students took away the feelings from this activity to better understand why the people of France united in Revolution.

Please do your part to get your hours in and help your student at Union Academy.

Parent Service Hours Year to Date Recap

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

As we are at our half way mark in our 2015-2016 school year, we would like to applaud and celebrate ALL the efforts from our parent/family volunteers for their commitment to our school. As outlined in our partnership agreement, each UA Family commits to serving a minimum of 60 hours per year, per family. This is truly what makes our school unique and is the lifeline to the success of our school.

Listed below are families that have achieved their 30 plus hour commitment or at least a minimum of half their yearly commitment.

As a reminder, we encourage you to report your service hours monthly. You may submit hours online using the Family Volunteer Reporting Form on the UA website. On the UA website go to the tabs at the top and click on For Parents, and then Volunteer Reporting Form. Once the form is filled out and submitted, it goes directly into a master spreadsheet. Hours can be submitted as a block of hours over a range of months.

***The hours listed are complete through December 31, 2015. We have done our best to accurately report all current hours to the 30 hour threshold. With the online reporting form, this changes every minute of the day. Many families are just an hour or two from completing the indicated threshold. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Sherry Killion, at [email protected].
