Central League!Round 6!25 May 2014

Today sees us host to local rivals Lower Hutt City and I’d like to personally welcome Bevan and his team to Maidstone Park. !!Our game last weekend saw us take another step forward in our season with a convincing 8-1 win against Wellington United. 3 goals to Emma Main, 2 to both Toni West and Emily Morison and 1 to Olivia de Ronde rounded off what was our best performance to date in the competition. We started well and were there with a purpose to take maximum points from the game. I was not only pleased with the fact we put our opportunities away but with the fact that all across the park everyone did their job. It was an outstanding first 45 minutes that saw us go in at half time 6 nil up. At times we played some great build up football and were rewarded with some superbly individual finishing as a result.!!Our approach into today’s game will be the same. We respect that Lower Hutt are here to compete and like us will want points from the game. We have had some good battles in the past and we expect nothing less today.!!Sadly there was a downside to last weekends result as we learnt during the game that Lucy Sneddon’s brother had suddenly passed away. Our thoughts have been with Lucy and her family all week during this tough time and as a mark of respect today we will be starting the game with a minute silence.!!I’d like to take this opportunity to also thank and acknowledge Lorraine Borrowing for all her hard work behind the scenes in making this team what it is today. Lorraine leaves us for a period of time as she heads to the UK in mid June. You will be sadly missed but we look forward to your return !!Lastly, thanks to everyone who helps behind the scenes at our home games, it’s much appreciated by the team. !Good luck to our 2nd team who are playing after us!

We welcome table toppers Tawa to Maidstone Park today in what looks like a tough challenge for the Upper Hutt Car Sales Women’s 2nd Team.! !Tawa are coming off a convincing 5-0 nil win over North Wellington and are looking to maintain their 100% record in the first round.! !The Upper Hutt Car Sales Women’s 2nd Team currently sitting in 4th position will be looking to be the first team to put a scare into Tawa and gain some much valued points.! !This season has been a rebuilding year again for The Upper Hutt Car Sales Women’s 2nd Team. They have had consistent turn outs to trainings, a great mix of young and experienced players and have really started to gel as a team which will be timely heading into the second round which is our main focus for the season.! !Big thanks to all the supporters from both teams that have come to watch which is sure to be an entertaining game.! !Best of luck to both teams!!Mike
