November 2011
Coming Events for Term 4
Year 6 Maths Field Day On Thursday the year six students went to the Taree Racecourse for a Maths Day. We did one or two tests on times tables. We had to measure a little box of lollies and then when we had done this we had to measure a big box of lollies. We did some other games too. For lunch we had pizza and a can of fizzy drink. It was very tasty. I think the day went very well. I really enjoyed the day. End of Year Presentation Night We have started our preparations for this special event. We are hoping that all students will be able to dress in basic black on the evening (shorts and a t-shirt are fine), and costumes will be worn over the black clothing. We have asked the students if they have any bright Hawaiian shirts which could be worn (by some students) or borrowed. Remember – 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 7th December. Swimming Transport As you are aware, parents are expected to arrange transport for their children to and from Manning Aquatic Centre. Students need to be picked up from the school no later than 1:30 pm, and picked up from the pool no later than 3:00 pm. There is no need for the children to return to the school. If you are having difficulty arranging transport, please let us know as soon as possible, as there will be a limited number of seats available in staff vehicles. The school will pay for students’ entry into the Aquatic Centre.

Stage 3 Camp We are requesting support with grocery supplies. If you are able to help supply cereal and juice please let Mrs Dun know. Note: Students will be transported to and from camp by staff. They will need to arrive at school by 8:45 am on Wednesday morning. True Spirit of Christmas The children and staff members have decided again this year to donate money towards World Vision this Christmas season, in lieu of exchanging gifts. Our donations could go towards clean drinking water, purchasing a goat, and/or providing an emergency kit where required. We will accept donations beginning this week, until the end of Week 9 (9th December). Remember, this donation will be instead of any gifts. I am extremely proud of the children making this decision. Mark Your Calendar The P & C will be holding a sausage sizzle at Taree Bunnings on SATURDAY, 28TH JANUARY 2012, as the first fundraiser of the new school year. Please mark your calendar. Also, the P & C will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 8th February 2012 at 6:00 pm in the school library. A Cultural Study of Japan A special thank you to Yuka Green, who shared lots of information about Japan with students in Mrs/ Dun’s class. All students got to try the delicious rice balls.

Library Books
Please ensure that ALL library books are returned this Tuesday 29th November, tomorrow, as we are required to complete a stocktake of a portion of our book collection. We have many outstanding books that require your special attention. There will be no more book borrowing this year. Students still have access to the library and our large selection of reading materials, during the school day. Swimming Snaps The students have been making great progress with their swimming. Next page: Rosie, Breeanna, Mikey and Rikky are set to go!

Garden Gate Does anyone have a garden gate that they are willing to donate to the school? We are fencing off our vegetable garden and a garden gate would make it convenient to get in and out.
