    SAFETY

    This manual contains important instructions for EL-300 series Inverter that should be followed duringinstallation and maintenance.

    IMPORTANT NOTICES

    1. Read instructions carefully before operating the Inverter2. All warnings in the manual should be adhered to.3. All operating instructions should be followed.4. The unit should be supplied by a grounded outlet. Do not operate the unit without ground source.5. Power cord of the Inverter should be routed carefully so that they are not to be walked on.6. Please save this manual.7. Please save or recycle the packaging materials.

    WARNING!

    Do not insert any object into ventilation holes or other openings.

    To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, install in temperature and humidity controlled indoor area freeof conductive contaminants.

    To reduce the risk of fire, replace fuses with the same type and rating when necessary.

    CAUTION!

    Only qualified personnel should install or service Inverter/batteries.

    Risk of electric shock, do not remove cover. No user serviceable parts inside, refer servicing toqualified service personnel.

    The output may be energized when the unit is not connected to a mains supply.

    Risk of electric shock hazardous live parts inside this unit are energized from the battery supplyeven when the input AC power is connected.

    Turn OFF the Inverter before installing a computer interface signal cable. Reconnect the power cord onlyafter signaling interconnections have been made.

    ABOUT THE BATTERY

    A battery can present a risk of electric shock or burn from high short circuit currents. The following

    precaution should be observed when working on batteries :* Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.* Use tools with insulated handles.

    The batteries in this Inverter are recyclable. Batteries must be disposed of according to localenvironmental laws. The batteries contain lead and pose a hazard to the environment and human health ifnot disposed of properly.

    Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries will explode. Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Theycontain an electrolyte which is toxic and harmful to the skin and eyes. If electrolyte comes into contact withthe skin the affected area should be washed immediately.

    The energy source (the battery) cannot be de-energized by the user.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    1.1 Introduction

    EL-300 series Emergency lighting inverter, are being manufactured with the state-of-the art PWM and IGBTtechnology, produce microprocessor controlled pure sine wave output to critical loads. EL-300 seriesinverterss install between the critical load and the mains.

    The advantages of using Inverter:

    Power blackout protection:If the mains power fails, the EL-INVERTER continues to power the critical load from its battery source,leaving the load immune from power disturbances.

    Increased power quality:The EL-INVERTER has its own internal voltage and frequency regulator circuits, which ensure that itsoutput is maintained within close tolerances when supplying the load.

    Features :

    PWM and IGBT technology.

    2 Microprocessors in each EL-INVERTER

    Microprocessor controlled main controller board.

    Microprocessor controlled rectifier board.

    Static (STS) and maintenance by-pass.

    High quality maintenance-free lead-acid type batteries.

    High nonlinear load capacity, special for computers.

    Automatic and Manual Battery Test System:

    After all the pre conditions ensured, the battery test is made periodically by itself.

    Facility of connection with the PC:

    In case of failure, alarms of the Inverter (Battery low, mains control or general) is shown by the dry relaycontacts and RS232, to the user. The relay interfaces are specially produced for the server systems (IBMAS400 and Microsoft Windows NT).

    Accessories:o Optional Inverter monitoring software ( RUPS, RUPSII, UPSILON) SNMP devices, compatible

    to any operating system.oRemote Monitoring Panel (RMP) available: You can observe the EL-INVERTER status and parameters

    1.2 Design Concept

    S1 : Inverter input power switch

    S2 : Static by-pass input power switch

    S3 : Maintenance by-pass power switch

    S4 : Output switch

    S5 : Battery circuit breaker (optional)

    RECTIFIER:The first conversion stage (from AC to DC) uses a 3 phase, fully controlled rectifier to convertthe incoming mains supply into a regulated DC BUS BAR. The DC BUS BAR produced by the rectifierprovides both battery charging power and power to the inverter section.

    BATTERY GROUP:It keeps as an reserve DC power supply, for the inverter in case of mains failure.

    INVERTER: It is made by utilizing the latest technology of power transistor (IGBT) and pulse widthmodulation (PWM). Inverter converts dc bus voltage into (second conversion) an alternative voltage like linevoltage. And provides this voltage and frequency being fixed.

    STATIC TRANSFER SWITCH (STATIC BY-PASS): The static transfer switch of the unit contains anelectronically controlled switching circuit, which enables the critical load to be connected either to inverteroutput or to utility power source via the static by-pass line.The load is switched between the utility supply and the inverter output depending on the operation mode endavailability of the power source.

    MECHANIC TRANSFER SWITCH (MAINTENANCE BY-PASS): A second, manually controlled,maintenance by-pass supply is also incorporated into the EL-INVERTER. Its purpose is to enable the criticalload to be powered from the mains (by-pass) supply while the unit is shut down for maintenance ortroubleshooting purposes.The load is unprotected against mains power supply disturbances or failure when itis connected to the maintenance by-pass supply.

    BATTERY CIRCUIT BREAKER:There is a fuse loadbreak switch (externally mounted) between the Inverterand the batteries. The battery is connected to the DC BUS BAR through a fuse link. This circuit breaker isclosed manually.

    BATTERY GROUP (CABINET): The batteries associated with the Inverter are generally housed in apurpose-built cabinet located along-side the main Inverter equipment. For a long-term efficiency from the

    batteries, keep them in room temperature (20C).

    1.2.1 The Operating Modes of the Emergency lighting nverter

    A. CHANGEOVER MODE: All relevant power isolators and circuit breakers are closed (exceptmechanical transfer switch). The load is powered from the incoming utility supply. At the sametime the battery charging is performed. In case of a utility power supply failure, the load istransferred to inverter output without interruption. During this operation the inverter converts DCpower (from batteries) to AC power. Critical loads are supplied until the batteries are fullydischarged. At the end of the discharge time, the unit first gives A7 BATTERY LOW alarm. Ifthe batteries are fully discharged, it A5 BAT. AUT END message and shutdown. When themains is restored, the EL-Inverter returns back to normal operation (changeover mode)

    B. INVERTER MODE: All relevant power isolators and circuit breakers are closed. (exceptmechanical transfer switch) The load is powered from the well regulated nverter output with

    stable voltage and frequency. Rectifier stage supplies both the inverter and performs batterycharging at the same time.In case of a utility power supply failure, the load is still supplied by the inverter which uses theDC power from the batteries this time, to produce AC power.

    C. MAINTENANCE BYPASS: In this mode, the EL-Inverter is shutdown, and the load is supplieddirectly by the mains through the maintenance bypass switch.

    II. FRONT PANEL

    2.1 IntroductionThe front panel of EL-INVERTER, consisting of a 2 lines alphanumeric display, 6 status lamps, plus 5function keys, allows the complete monitoring of the operation status. The mimic flow diagram helps tocomprehend the operating status of the of EL-INVERTER. By using the function keys operator can moves onmenus and change some parameters.

    There are 5 function keys on front panel these are ENTER, UP, DOWN, PLUS and MINUS.UP and DOWN keys help moving on menus, PLUS and MINUS keys select options, ENTER key means theselected option or menu is valid.

    2.2 Alarms And Status MessagesTotally 64 alarm and status messages are used in of EL-INVERTER which help the user. Messages arecoded for easy dialog with service organization, all messages contains numbers A1-A2-A3.An. Messagesand events in the unit are recorded to a log file with event time and date

    ALARM DESCRIPTION

    ALARM DESCRIPTION

    A5 BATT AUT END Batteries are completely discharged. Wait for the utility supply to be restored.A6 CHARGER FAULT Rectifier is not producing DC bus voltage.

    A7 BATTERY LOW Batteries are low.Possible Causes: 1) Inverter is working an batteries for a long time.

    2) Charger system failure

    A8 OUTPUT HIGHInverter output voltage is greater than the max. tolerated value.Inverter is stopped immediately.

    Possible Causes: 1) Inverter failureA9 OVERLOAD Inverter loaded over than 100%

    Possible Causes:Load on the Inverter output is greater than the max. Load capacity. This state ismaybe continous or short time. When this alarm is continous, check the loads.

    A10 LINE FAILURE Line failure.Possible Causes: 1) Failure in utility supply

    2) There may be a problem on the AC nput board. Please Check.3) Blown AC input fuses.

    A11 HIGH TEMPER Over temperature. (inverter or rectifier section)Possible Causes: 1) Overload for inverter

    2) Over temperature3) Fan failure or dirty air inlets4) Bed ventilation.

    A12 OVERCURRENT Inverter output system failure.Possible Causes: 1) Overload.

    2) Short circuit.3) Inverter is out of order. Call service.

    A13 OUTPUT LOWInverter output voltage is smaller than min. tolerated voltage value.Inverter is stopped immediately.

    A14 BATTERY HIGH Battery voltage is larger than the max. tolerated value.A15 FUSE FAILURE Fuse blown. (not used in this power range)

    A16 BYP INPUT BAD During transfer to bypass, voltage or frequency value of bypass source is incorrectand the nverter turn off the load power.

    A18 BATT.CAPA.LOW

    If the battery charge is low this message indicates that charge period is notcompleted. If mains failure occurs during this message battery operating time isnot valid.Inverter gives beep sound within 15 sec

    A19 BATT FAULTBattery test aborted. And batteries are not OKAYThe unit gives beep sound within 15 secYou can clear this message by pressing the ENTER key for 3 seconds

    Possible Causes: 1) Rectifier fault2) Battery cells damaged

    A20 BOOST CHARGEBoost charge is active for 10 hours. At the end of this time the unit stops the boostcharge, and gives beep sound within 15 sec

    A21 ROTATE PHASE Phase sequence is wrong on the rectifier input. Please change.

    A39 PSP FAILUREPower supply is not functioning possibly because either of a wrong phasesequence or rectifier fault.

    A44 BT.OPERATION Inverter is operating from batteriesPossible Causes: 1) Utility power black-out

    2) Distribution problems upstream the Inverter

    A45 MAINS OKAfter mains failure, if mains voltage restored, this message appears on screen for15 seconds.

    A46 BOOST CH.END Boost charge mode is finished, normal charging is valid.A47 CANNOT START Analog start system is failed.

    Status messages:This message group simply shows the UPS STATUS at the upper line of LCD PANEL.

    INVERTER START ! : Inverter is startedMAINT SWITCH ON ! : Maintenance bypass switch is onMANUEL BYPASS ! : Load is transferred to mains manuallySTATUS ALARM ! : Alarm statusSTATUS NORMAL ! : Normal operationEMERGENCY STOP ! : External emergency signal is detected.WAITING SYNC ! : Inverter started waiting for syncronizationSTATUS FAULT ! : Fault statusSTATUS WARNING ! : Warning message is valid on LCD panel

    RECTIFIER START :At start up, the inverter controller board checks for input voltages, frequency, battery voltage and some otherparameters for starting, if these parameters are normal, rectifier is started.

    INVERTER START :If the inverter stops controller board tries to start again, during inverter start this message appears on first lineof LCD PANEL.

    MAINT SWITCH ON:Maintenance bypass switch is connected from input to the output of the EL-Inverter directly. The controllerboard stops inverter for accidental short circuits between mains voltage and inverter output. If the user turnsoff the maintenance switch inverter starts again.

    EMERGENCY STOP :If an external EPO switch is installed to system (connected to interface board), to stop all stages (rectifier,static bypass, inverter, etc.) is possible. After pressing EPO switch, all stages of the EL-Inverter stop. Forrestart, turn off S1 (inverter input) switch and turn on again.

    FAULT STATUS :In some cases controller checks events but can not find solutions, in this case controller decide to stopsystem,. For restart, user must turn off S1 (inverter input) switch and turn on again.

    WARNING STATUS :

    Some events recorded to log event file stays on LCD PANEL but Inverter continues to work, these messagesnamed as warning messages, user can clear this messages by pressing ENTER key for 3 seconds.These are:

    A20 Boost charge alert

    A6 Charger fault

    A18 Batt capacity low

    Shutdown Messages :

    EL-300 series inverters can operate interactive with operating system, by using some softwares you can sendcommands to the unit from operating system. The inverter takes these commands and produces somemessages. These are:

    WAITING SHUTDOWN : Shutdown command is performed from operating system and the inverter iswaiting for a certain delay for shutdown.

    WAITING RESTART : Inverter is shutdown but it is waiting for a certain delay for restartCANCEL SHUTDOWN : Shutdown command is canceled.

    Only operating system or a PC computer can send these commands.If the shutdown command is performed during line failure, the inverter shutdowns, and if the mains is okay,Inverter starts again automatically.

    2.3 Menu Description

    By using UP and DOWN function keys on front panel you can move on main menu functions, when mainmenu appears on LCD panel if you press ENTER key you can go to submenu item.In submenu you can move by UP and DOWN keys, if there is option on submenu item, you can changeoptions by pressing PLUS and MINUS keys. If you press ENTER ket the option is valid.

    III. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

    3.1 Introduction

    The operating intructions will be considered in two parts :1- CHANGEOVER MODE2- INVERTER MODE

    3.1.1 OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANGEOVER MODE

    1- Make sure that all the switches and fuses (S1,S2,S3,S4 and S5) are in off position.

    Note : It is useful to connect an external battery circuit breaker in series with S5, since thebatteries should only be connected following the rectifier start up. Otherwise excessivecapacitor charging current may flow through the battery links.

    2- Turn on S2 switch (static bypass) into 1 (ON) position.

    3- Turn on the S1 switch (inverter input), into 1 possition. By turning on S1, all lights on the frontpanel will be lit for abaout 4 seconds (lamp test) and then, the following messages will appear onLCD.

    RECTIFIER START : Rectifier is operating and static bypass input (utility supply)supplying the output.

    INVERTER START : Inverter starts operating and static bypass input continues tosupply the output.

    STATUS NORMAL : Normal operation of the supply, the output is still supplied bythe bypass input if the unit is in the CHANGEOVER Mode.

    The load is supplied by the inverter if the unit is in INVERTERMode.

    Note :Make sure that Changeover Mode has been selected in the settings menu.

    4- Turn on S5 (and/or the external battery circuit breaker, if exsits) by inserting the battery fuse link.Now the backup battery bank is connected to the unit.

    5- Turn on S4 (output switch) to supply the loads connected to the output of the unit.

    3.2 OPERATION AND TEST OPTIONS OF THE UNIT IN THE CHANGEOVER MODE IN ANEMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM

    1) UTILITY SUPPLY FAILURE : If the Inverter is in CHANGEOVER MODE the output is supplied by

    incoming utility supply. In case of a failure in this supply, the output is connected to the static inverteroutput. This transfer operation is performed internally by the control logic of the Inverter.

    2) An external phase failure device, via external phase fail terminals (Terminals 3 and 4 on the ELC02Board ) can also be used to externally monitor a phase which is not supplying the machine. Terminals 3and 4 should normally be kept shorted under normal operating conditions. When the external phasefailure device opens these terminals, the output is switched to inverter.

    3) A N/C momentary test button can be connected across the terminals 5 and 6 on the ELC02 board,providing an immediate test that the system is working OK by forcing the load on to the inverter and de-energizing the none-maintained contactor if fitted. (The NC contacts of the contactor should be used forconnecting the load to the Inverter outputs.) The operation of the extrenal test switch is indicated on theLCD with A17 TEST EXT. Message.

    4) Terminals 7 and 8 on the ELC02 Board are for connection to an external switch so the end user cancontrol the output of the system (i.e. the lights are on or off) if a NC none-maintained contactor is used inseries with the Inverter output. For maintained operation this switch (connected across 7 and 8 ) shouldbe open and for non-maintained operation it should be closed. The none maintained contactormentioned above should have a coil voltage of 24V DC, and this voltage is available across theterminals 9 and 10 on the ELC02 Board (max 3 Amps). Even if this switch is closed for non-maintained operation, the non-maintained contactor is deenergized and the lights are turned onin case of power failure.

    5) A fire Alarm Relay (FAR), with a 24V DC coil is mounted on the ELC02 board and its coil is connectedvia terminals 1 and 2, to the 24V DC control output of the remote Fire Alarm Panel. Under normaloperating conditions this relay is energized and if the external 24V DC supply to terminals 1 and 2 is lost(in case of a fire alarm) the FAR will be de-energized by forcing the load on to the inverter and de-energizing the none-maintained contactor, regardless of the position of the switch connected accrossterminals 7 and 8. That means under fire alarm conditions the load is turned on, anyway. FAR can bekept energized, for test purposes by inserting jumpers J3(-) and J4 (+) on the ELC02 board.

    6) There are also two more test options (TEST1 and TEST2) which can be performed using the buttons on

    the LCD panel.

    a) TEST1 :- Choose and enter the COMMAND menu on the LCD panel.-Choose ENTER TEST1 and press ENTER button. In this case the load is transferred to inverter

    and the Inverter stays in this position for a fixed period of time (Approx. 8 seconds) and thentransferred back to utility supply (normal changeover mode) Each time the ENTER button ispressed this test is repeated.

    b) TEST2 :-Choose ENTER TEST2 in the COMMAND Menu,-And press the ENTER Button.

    In this case, a line failure is simulated for test purposes (autonomy test). In other words the rectifier is turned

    off and the load is transferred to inverter, with batteries supplying the system. This test will go on until youpress the ENTER button again, when you seeENTER TEST END on the first line of LCD. This process isindicated on the panel by A20 TEST2. Test 2 is reset aoutomatically if a BAT AUT END (Battery automy end)alarm is produced.

    3.2.1 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR INVERTER MODE

    Follow the same procedure given in section 3.1.1, only make sure that the INVERTER Mode hasbeen selected in settings menu.

    MODE SELECTION :

    Using the UP-DOWN buttons on the front panel, select SETTINGS MENU on LCD and pressENTER When you see MODE display select either CHANGEOVER or INVERTER modeusing (+) and (-) buttons.

    After selecting the desired operation mode, press ENTER untill you hear the beep sound.

    Turn off S1 and after a few seconds, turn it on again. Now the unit will start operating in theselected mode.

    IV. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

    4.1 IntroductionWARNING!!!

    Do not apply electrical power to the EL-INVERTER equipment before the arrival of authorized servicepersonnel.

    The system equipment should be installed by a qualified service personnel.

    The connection of the batteries and the maintenance should be done by the qualified service personnel.

    Do not make short- circuit to the batteries poles. Because of the high short-circuit current, it has thedanger of electrical shock or burn.

    Eye protection should be worn to prevent injury from accidental electrical arcs. Remove rings, watchesand all metal objects. Only use tools with insulated handles. Wear rubber gloves.

    This chapter contains location installation information of the EL-INVERTER and the batteries. All theestablishments have their own specialties and needs. So in this part the installation procedure is not beingexplain step by step. Instead general procedure and the applications are explained for the technicalpersonnel.

    4.2 Unpacking

    1. Inspect for damage that may have occurred during the shipment If any damage is noted, call the shipperimmediately and retain the shipping carton and the EL-INVERTER.

    2. Carefully open the carton and take the unit out.3. Retain the carton and packing material for future use.

    4.3 Equipment Positioning

    1. The equipments installation place must be an easy serving place.2. Install the EL-INVERTER in a protected area with adequate air flow and free of excessive dust.3. You must allow for a minimum gap of 250 mm behind the unit to allow adequate air flow (See

    Figure 4.1)4. Select a suitable place (temperature is between 0C and 40C) and the relative humidity (%90 max)

    5. It is recommended to air-conditioned the room (24C)6. Temperature is a major factor in determining the battery life and capacity. Battery manufacturers quote

    figures for an operating temperature of 20C. On a normal installation the battery temperature

    is maintained between 15C and 25C. Keep batteries away from main heat sources or main air inlets etc.7. In case of an operating the unit in a dusty place, clean the air with a suitable air filtration system.8. Keep out of your equipment from the explosive and flammable items.9. Avoid direct sunlight, rain, and high humidity.

    WARNING!!! Check the capacity of the forklift if it is available for lifting.DO NOT MOVE THE BATTERY CABINET WHILE THE BATTERIES ARE INSTALLED.

    4.4 Connecting The Power Cables

    CAUTION! Only qualified personnel should install or service Inverter / batteries.

    The ac input to the Inverter should be supplied by a separate line from the ac distribution board.

    The input/output cables can be sized to suit the modules rating according to the table below.

    The connections of the electric panel should be supplied by grounded outlet. Cables enter the Invertermodules via entry panels in the base of cabinet. All control cables should be screened and run in a separate

    4.4.1 Safety Earth

    The safety earth cable must be connected to the earth BUS BAR and bonded to each cabinets in the systemand also the earthing and neutral bonding arrangements must be in accordance with the local laws.

    ATTENTION!!! Failure to follow adequate earthing procedures can result in electric shock hazard topersonnel, or the risk of fire.

    4.4.2 Cable Connections

    ATTENTION!!! All the cable connections of the Inverter must be done by the authorized servicepersonnel. Once the equipment has been finally positioned and secured, connect thepower cables as described in the following procedure:

    Split (External) By-PassSupply Connections

    a. The three white cables shown inFigure 4-2 are removed.

    b. The three phase + neutral cablescoming from the split by-pass supplyare connected to terminals U3-V3-W3and N3.

    c. The three phase + neutral AC Inputcables are connected to terminals U1-V1-W1 and N1, to supply thenecessary operational input power ofthe unit.

    d. Note that in this connection theneutrals of the split by-pass supplyand the line are connected together.

    e. The split by-pass supplys voltage andfrequency must be compatible with the

    unit output voltage and frequency.

    1. Verify that the switches are totally at 0 position.

    2. Connect the AC input supply cables between the mains distribution panel and the Inverter AC Input (U1-V1-W1-N1) terminals.

    ATTENTION!!! ENSURE CORRECT PHASE SEQUENCE

    If there is a phase sequence fault, A21/A39 ROTATE PHASE message appears onthe front panel and the Inverter can not work.

    3. Connect the Inverter output cables between the Inverter output AC output (U2-V2-W2-N2) and the loaddistribution panel.

    4. Make the connection of the battery groups. Please look at the Battery Installation item for it.

    ATTENTION!!! Remove the battery fuse before making the connection of the battery circuitBreaker during the battery installation. (Turn off into 0 (OFF) position)

    5. Connect the copper earth bus, which is under the safety earth and the cables power connection.

    Note: The earth and the neutral connections must be in accordance to the local rules.

    6. If the REMOTE STOP option is going to be used, you should connect the remote stop button (normallyopen), to the pins 4 and 5 of the remote stop connector (CN3) on the PCB ITF3.

    4.4.3 Battery Installation

    ATTENTION!!! Remove the battery fuse before making the connection of the battery circuit breaker boxduring the battery installation.

    The batteries associated with the EL-INVERTER equipment are usually contained in a purpose-built batterycabinet, which sits alongside the main equipment. Sealed, maintenance-free batteries are normally used inthis type of installations.

    Where battery racks are used, they should be sited and assembled in accordance with the batterymanufacturers recommendations. In general, batteries require a well-ventilated, clean and dry environmentat reasonable temperatures to obtain efficient battery operation.

    In general a minimum space of 10 mm must be left on all vertical sides of the battery block. A minimumclearance of 20 mm should be allowed between the cell surface and any walls. A clearance of minimum150mm should be allowed between the top of the cells and the underside of the shelf above (this is necessary formonitoring and servicing the cells). All metal racks and cabinets must be earthed. All live cell connectionsmust be shrouded.

    The batteries are connected to the Inverter through a circuit breaker (optional), which is manually closed. If

    the batteries are cabinet-mounted this circuit breaker is fitted within the cabinet; however, if the batteries arerack-mounted or otherwise located remote to the main Inverter cabinet then the battery circuit breaker mustbe mounted as near as possible to the batteries themselves, and the power and control cables connected tothe Inverter using the most direct route possible.

    1. Unpack each battery and check its terminal voltage. If any battery has terminal voltage less than 10,5 V itmust be charged before continuing.

    2. Please check the battery connecting hardware.

    3. Start locating the batteries from top to the bottom on the racks.

    4. Connect the cable between the battery circuit breakers positive port (BAT+) first then battery tray (+) atthe left topside as in the figure 4-3

    5. Connect the cable between the battery circuits negative port (BAT-) first then battery tray (-) at the right

    bottom side as in the figure 4-36. Please pay attention to the connections and the poless directions between the racks.

    7. Connect the battery circuit breakers INVERTER(+) BATT(+) and INVERTER (-) BATT(-) Ports tothe battery group connection terminals at the Inverter cabinet.

    4.4.4 CommunicationDry relay alarm contacts or optional RS232 communication port can be used to inform the user about anypossible alarm like Battery Low Line Failure Load On By-pass. The relay interface AS400 and WindowsNT is an special edition for the systems.You should use ITF2 and RS330 board for the communicate with the PC. For this connections there must bea dedicated serial port.

    ATTENTION!!! The communication cables of this option must be shielded and must install away from thevoltage cables.

    V. CUSTOMER SERVICE

    WARNING!There are no customer serviceable components inside. DO NOT open the cover or attempt to service theunit. High voltage may remain when the unit is shut down.Unauthorized service will void the warranty and could cause serious injury.

    5.1 MaintenanceThe unit is designed for easy maintenance. Very little customer maintenance is required. The followingwill help to ensure trouble -free operation for several years:

    1. Vacuum the dust from the ventilation intake on the front panel.

    2. Wipe the cover with a dump cloth.

    3. Check the batteries charge with the manual battery test procedure. See Automatic And ManualBattery Test.

    CAUTION!It is recommended to test the battery discharging capability only after the software in use has beensaved and all files have been closed.

    5.2 TroubleshootingDue to the unique design, the unit can be serviced only by authorized people. In case of a persistentfailure or problem properly turn off the unit first. Then review the following check list. Be prepared toanswer the questions before calling the service.

    1. Did you follow the operation procedure? Did it happen on installation?

    2. Did a power failure occur just after or before the malfunction noted on the Inverter?

    3. What is the indicators status? (see LCD alarms and FAULT codes)

    4. Were any changes made recently to unit or the critical equipment connected to the unit?

    5. Did an overload condition occur? Remove load from the unit and restart it.

    6. Is the utility power phase sequence correct (were any changes phase sequence of the mains)?

    5.3 Storage

    1. Check the batteries charge with the manual battery test before storage.2. Connections uninstall operation will be done by the authorized service.

    3. During the storage period the batteries should be charged once, per six months.

    4. Keep the equipment and the batteries in a dry, cool place.

    Best storage temperature for the Inverter : Between 0C and 40C max.

    Best storage temperature for the batteries : Between 10C and 35C max.

    6.3 Modem Connection

    An EL-300 Inverter can be controlled through a normal telephone line by means of a remote operatorconnected through a PC with modem device, who performs a phone call to the Inverter connected number.

    So the operator can see all parameters and control the Inverter (if permitted from SETTINGS MENU).

    6.3.1 Hardware Configuration

    DUMP modem which is connected to Inverter

    In order to perform this function a PC with Inverter control software and an external or internal modem deviceconnected to telephone line are needed.

    A standart modem device, configured according to DUMP and auto answer modes, will be installed on theInverter and, once programmed, will following a telephone call of the PC-embedded modem,connect theInverter to the telephone line.

    6.3.2 Functioning Principle

    The remote operator, by means of a PC and a modem device and using the remote connection function ofthe control software, calls the El-Inverter through the number to which this is connected.The dumb modem device, connected to the Inverter, will answer the call and convert the data coming fromInverter serial on the telephone line. This way all measures and controls allowed by the RS232 serial port canbe carried out.

    6.3.3 SMART Modem Programming (PC modem)

    6.3.4 DUMB Modem Programming

    The connected modem to Inverter can be program from COMMAND MENU, ENTER :MODEM INITautomaticly.But the user can program this modem from a PC by following options.

    6.4 Dry Contact (Interface) Connection

    Some important events can be monitored by this connection for each event a relay is located on interfaceboard and NC-C-NO contacts are connected terminals.these events are:

    LINE FAILURE

    LOAD ON BYPASS

    COMMON ALARM ( or BATTERY LOW)

    EMERGENCY STOP input

    6.5 Remote Monitoring Panel

    Remote mnitoring panel can be used from 400 meters away from Inverter. Up to 25 meters there is no needextra hardware RS232 communication is okay. But if distance is longer than 25 meters extra RS485hardware is needed.

    Up to 5 remote monitoring panel can be used in system.

    VII. LIMITED WARRANTY

    The Inverter is warranted against all defects in workmanship and materials under normal use for a period ofone ( ) year from the date of shipment to the original user. The conditions of this warranty and the extent ofresponsibility of

    corporation under this warranty are as follows.

    1. The warranty does not apply if the product has been subjected to physical abuse, improper installation,unauthorized service or modification.

    2. The sole responsibility of

    corporation under this warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of the product, at the solediscretion of

    corporation.

    3. If it becomes necessary to send a defecting unit to

    corporation, the product should be shipped in its original carton or in suitable equivalent, and with shippingcharges prepaid.
