Dear Parents Week 2 Term 3 Tuesday, July 30 2019 Urgent: Kinder enrolments for 2020 are required as soon as possible. By the end of Week 5 this term I plan to announce the teachers who will be taking Kindergarten classes in 2020. To do this the school needs a relatively accurate idea of the number of children starting Kinder in the new year. In Weeks 6 to 10 this term the Kinder teachers for 2020 will be visiting Preschools in preparation for moving to the orientation days at the beginning of Term 4. Knowing how each individual child is as a learner and how they interact with their peers and the preschool environment will give our school the opportunity to provide for the best possible transition to school. NAIDOC Day celebrations at CPS last Wednesday clearly demonstrated how talented and special our children are. Garry Carter - Principal

Dear Parents Week 2 Term 3 Tuesday, July 30 2019

Urgent: Kinder enrolments for 2020 are required as soon as possible.

NAIDOC Day celebrations at CPS last Wednesday clearly demonstrated how talented and special our children are.

; If there are any changes to your child’s routine in the afternoon ie: catching different bus/not

catching bus etc, PLEASE SEND A NOTE IN THE MORNING to your child’s teacher telling them of the change. Please

do not phone the office with afternoon changes (except in an emergency situation) as this is a large school, with a busy

office. It is not always possible for messages to be delivered to students on time.

If you will be picking your child up early for an appointment etc., please send a note in to your child’s

LIBRARY NEWS BOOK WEEK: Reading is My Super Power

Casino Public School will be celebrating Children’s Book Week during Week 4 of this term. This year’s theme

is: “READING IS MY SUPER POWER”. Our Parade and Presentation Day will be held on Thursday 15

August, starting at 9.45am. All are most welcome to attend. Children can dress up as their favourite book,

super hero, movie or television character, or in the colours red, black and white. Please do not go to any

extra expense with costumes.

As well as our Parade, children will also be able to participate in:

Colouring Competition – 10 prize winners from each year group (including Preschool and Support Unit). Winners will go

into the draw for a $20 voucher to spend at our Book Fair. Design a poster – children will design a poster to help celebrate Book Week Theme: “Reading is my Super Power”. One

winner from each stage. Winners will go into the draw for a $20 voucher to spend at our Book Fair. Children will also participate in another competition, matching teachers to the teacher’s favourite picture books. Best Borrower Awards – certificates will be presented to the best borrowers from each class. Winners will go into the

draw for a $20 voucher to spend at our Book Fair. We are looking forward to seeing you!!!!

BOOK FAIR

The Library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during Weeks 3 & 4 to celebrate Children’s Book Week. Each child will have

the opportunity to view books for sale and complete a “Wish List” during their Library lessons during Week 2. Our Book Fair

will be open for sales from Tuesday 6 August. Sale open time for parents, carers and children will be 8.40 to 9.05 and 11.30

to 11.55 each day of Week 3 and 4. Books will not be held for later payment. Each person who makes a purchase will go into

the draw to win a $20 voucher to spend at the Book Fair, which will be drawn during the Book Week Parade.

Thank you in advance for supporting our fundraising initiative – our Library will receive commission in the form of new books to

add to our Library collection.

BOOK CLUB Issue 5 Book Club has been sent home. If you would like to make a purchase, please ensure that

carefully completed order forms and correct payment are returned to the office by 9.30am Monday

5 August.

YEAR 6 CANBERRA EXCURSION The Canberra Excursion is fast approaching, the bus leaves Sunday 18 August and returns on Friday 23 August.

The final payment for the Canberra excursion is due Friday 9 August. The total amount is to be paid by this date. Total paid by this date:

9 August – Term 3 Week 3 $125 $600 SRC FUNDRAISER – “BEANIE DAY” When: Wednesday 7 August

Why: You may be surprised to learn that, in Australia, brain cancer kills more children than any

other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer, yet it is one of the most underfunded

and under researched cancers of all time. Your participation in Beanie for Brain Cancer day will enable

us to increase awareness of this terrible disease, and raise much needed funds for brain cancer

research.

WEAR A BEANIE FOR THE DAY INSTEAD OF YOUR SCHOOL HAT AND DONATE A GOLD COIN. P&C NEWS This weekend we are having a Working Bee in the Sensory Garden to give it a tidy up and add a few extra things and would love

some extra hands to Volunteer to help out. The Working Bee will be Sunday 4 August from 8am.

The Uniform Shop is looking for a new Volunteer to run the Uniform shop on a Weekly basis. For the right Volunteer the hours

can be changed if necessary.

The Canteen is looking for Volunteers, if you can help out once a week, month or more often it would be greatly appreciated.

We appreciate your continued support.
