The Undergraduate Research OpportunityProgram (UROP) is an initiative by the Center
for Undergraduate Research and AcademicEngagement (CRE) to engage more
underclassmen in academic research and offerhelp to our faculty members and graduatestudents. UROP students participate in a
colloquium introducing them to the practice ofresearch, work as research assistants for 5-10hours per week, and present their Research
Mentors' projects and their contributions at theannual Undergraduate Research Symposium
in the Spring. As UROP Research Mentors, faculty members,postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, andcampus partners will have the opportunity tomentor student research assistants for 5-10
hours a week for a year-long period.
