When the weather turns cold, regulatorvents can freeze shut – preventing theregulator’s diaphragm chamber frombreathing. This is a common problemamong utilities doing business in areasthat experience melting snow or freezingrain. Nothing is quite so simple oreffective as Splashguard™.

During extensive testing, we identified the primary source of vent freezing as the “Splash Back Effect.” It happens whenwater drips close to the regulator ventand then splashes back into the vent

screen. If the vent screen is at an ambienttemperature below freezing, tiny waterdroplets that splash onto it will give theirheat to the screen and immediatelyfreeze.
