GENERAL INFORMATION

AMIBEN® Ch10ramben Herbicide is effective appl1.edpreplant incorporated, preemergence and early postemergence. When used preemergence· it is most effective when applied the same day as planting. Rain, irrigation, water, or mechanical incorporation moves AMIBEN® into the soil where weed seeds sprout.

Uniform spray application over the soil surf~ce is important. About 10-20 gallons of water or sprayable fluid fertilizer for ground and about 3-5 gallons for air application is enough spray solution for good coverage. See specific sections of this label for any special spray volume requirements.

AMIBEN® Herbicide remains active and effective for several weeks ... 10ng enough generally for crops to fill middles and shade out the late season weed growth. Moisture Is necessary to move AMIBEN® ch10ramben herbicide into the soil zone where weed seeds germinate. On course and medium soils one third inch of rainfall or overhead irrigation is sufficient to move AMIBE~

( rbicide into the seed germination zone. One fine soils one half inch of )'dlnfa11 or overhead irrigation is needed. Moisture must be received within 5 days after application and prior to weed emergence. High intensity or excessive rainfall or excessive irrigation after application may reduce control by moving the product below the weed seed germination zone.

In coarse textured soils with less than 1% organic matter heavy rains may move AMIBEN® Herbicide below the weed seed germination zone and produce erratic weed control. Weed tontro1 may be reduced on peat or muck soils (over 8% organic matter.)

AMIBEN® controls the following important Annual Grass and Broad1eaf Weeds:

barnyardgrass (water grass) carpetweed chickweed, annual

( lckweed, mouseear coffeeweed (sesbania) corn spurry crabgrass, hairy (large) crabgrass, smooth fa 11 pani cgrass Florida beggarweed foxta11, giant foxta 11, green foxta 11, yellow goosegrass (silver crabgrass) groundsel johnsongrass-seed1ing kochla 1ambsquarters, common lovegrass, mediterranean mustard, w11d nightshade, black nightshade, Eastern black nightshade, hairy

Band application of AMIBEN® may be made for broadleaf weed control over the top of preplant soil incorporated grass killers.

Deep germinating annual weeds and sprouts from established perennial weeds are not controlled. Sprouts coming from roots of established perennial weeds such as horsenet",l e, hedge bi ndweed, nutsedge (nutgrass), mil kweed, dogbane, quackgrass, and johnsongrass are not controlled by any selective, surface preemergence chemical treatment including AMIBEN®.

DIRECTIONS FOR INCORPORATION OF AMIBEN®

AMIBEN® Herbicide applied alone, and several AMIBEN® tank mixtures as specified in the crops section of this label, may be incorporated into the top 1 to 3 inches of the final Seedbed before planting. When preplant incorporation is recommended in the crops section of this label the following

( .uipment and operating procedures should be used. Be sure to use machinery that mtxes AMIBENe thoroughly with the soil. Incorporation with implements set to cut less than 2 inches deep may result in erratic weed control.

Recommended Equipment Includes:

1. Two passes with a disc set to cut 4 inches deep at 4 to 6 mph with the second pass running at an angle to the first. A tandem or double-disc operated on~ time does not provide adequate incorporation.

2. One pass with ~ field cultivator set to cut 3 to 4 inches deep and operated at 6 Mph or m~re. The field cultivator should have 3 to 4 rows of sweeps, spaced at intervals of 7 inches or less and staggered so that no soil 1s left unturned. Ch1sel points should not be used. The field cultivator used alone or in combination with the double-disc will provide effective.incorporation. If used 1n combination with a double-disc the spray boom should be mounted behind the disc blades but ahead of the cultivator sweeps.

3. One pass with a rolling cult1vator set to cut 2 to 3 1nches deep and or.erated at 6 to 8 Mph. Rol11ng cultivators are adequate for use on

coarse 'and Rledium textured so11s only.4. One pass with a Rlulch treader or ()ther similar disc type implement set to

cut 2 to 3 inches deep and operated at 5 to 8 M~H.

5. PTO-driven equipment (tillers, cultivators, hoes) set to cut 2 to 3 inches deep with rotors spaced to provide a clean sweep of the soil operated one time. PTO-driven equipment should not be operated at a speed greater than 4 mph.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

AMIBENI in water or fluid fertilizer: first fill the spray tank 1/4 to 1/2 full with clean water. Start agitation and add AHIBENI while adding the remaining required water or fluid fertilizer.

A~IBENI Plus Emulsifiable Concentrates in Water: first fill tank 1/4 to 1/2 full with clean water, start agitation and add AMIBENI. Mix thoroughly

("<j add water until tank is 3/4 full, continue agitation and add the IIlulsiffable concentrate material. Fill tank with remaining required water

and continue agitation during spraying until tank is empty. Agitation should sweep bottom contents of the tank up into the main body of the spray mixture for thorough mixing. If a compatibility agent 'is required it should be thoroughly mixed with the water before adding the emulsifiable concentrate. To prevent foaming, avoid stirring or splashing air into the mixture by placing the end of the fill pipe below the surface of the water in the spray tank.

AHIBEN® Plus Wettable Powders or Flowables: Fill tank 1/2 full with clean water, start sprayer agitation and add the recommended amount of the flowable or wettable powder. Mix thoroughly and add AMIBEN® while filling tank with remaining required water. Continue agitation during entire spraying operation until tank has been emptied. Agitation should sweep bottom contents of the tank up into the main body of the spray mixture for thorough mixing and ~niform suspension.

'bIRECTtpNS FOR USING AMIBEN® THROUGH OVERHEAD IRRIGATION SYSTEMS

AMIBEN® may be applied as a preemergence treatment in irrigation water alone, or in tank lIIixtures with any of the other herbicides on this label which are re~istered for center pivot or overhead irrigation, application. Use the broadcast rates per acre for each pi ,<juct as specified elsewhere on thfs label for each of the tank mixtures, and follow all use precautions below and on respective labels for any other products applied In this Rlanner. Use only through automated (center pivot or continuous lateral move) equipment which is properly maintained and operated to apply water uniformly.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Remove scale, pesticide reSidues and other foreign Rlatter from the ~hemlcal tank and the entire injector system. Flush with clean water. In the chemical tank prepare a Rlixture with a Rlinimum of 1 part of water to I part of herbicide(s). Maintain continuous agitation in the chemical tank while in~2cting into t!le irrigation system with a positive dfsplacement pump. Injecting a larger volume of a more dilute Rlixture will usually provide lIIore accurate calibration of metering eqUipment.

Set sprinkler to deliver 0.5 inch or lp.ss of water per acre. ApplicatiQn of more than 0.5 inch of water per acre may reduce weed control by moving the herbicide below the weed germination zone.

USER PRECAUTIONS:

Apply AMIBEN® only through systems containing anti siphon and check valves and having interlocking controls between the metering device and the water pump to insure their simultaneous shutoff to prevent water source contamination and overflow of the mixing tank.

To insure adequate mixing inject the chemical into the main line at least 8 feet ahead of a right angle turn.

Do not apply when conditions favor drift, such as from windy conditions, or when system joints and connections are leaking, or when nozzles do not

(nrovide uniform distribution, as crop injury may result.

Where sprinkler distribution patterns do not overlap sufficiently, unacceptable weed control may result. Where sprinkler distribution patterns overlap excessively, crop injury may result.

DIRECTION FOR USING AMIBEN® IN CONSERVATION OR REDCCED TILLAGE SYSTEMS

When applied as directed below, AMIBEN® tank mixtures will control many emerged annual weeds, suppress many emerged perennial weeds and will give . preemergence control of many annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in conservation tillage or reduced tillage systems.

When used In tillage systems with practices which elimir:ate all existing vegetation before planting, AMIBEt~ may be <Jsed alone or in ta"~_ mixture with any of the other products on this label which are labeled for use in reduced tillage operations. AMIBEN® and AMIBEN® combinations with other

( ~eemergence or preplant incorporated herbicides will not control emerged deeds. The presence of previous crop residue (trash) which is uniformly distributed on the soil surface will not affect the performance of AMIBEN®, providing sufficient rainfall (0.375 to 0.5 inch) is received before weeds begin to germinate. IF WEEDS HAVE BEGUN TO EMERGE AT TIME OF APPLICATION FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW.

When used in tillage systems where emerged weeds are present at planting, either Roundup, or Paraquat plus Ortho X-77 spreader should be added to the AMIBEN® tank mixture. Refer to the respective Roundup, Paraquat and Ortho X-77 labels for crops labeled, weeds controlled. use rates. and specific precautions to be taken. Use a minimum of 15 to 40 gallons of water per acre and apply the tank mixture during or after planting, but BEFORE CROP EMERGENCE. As density of stubble, crop residue or weeds increase, spray gallonage and rate should be increased, within recommended ranges, to assure good coverage.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF AMIBEH® WITH SPRAYABLE FLUID FERTILIZERS.

In most cases, AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide can be mixed and applied with liquid nitrogen. blended clear liquids, or suspension type fertilizers.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE ON SOYBEANS

AMIBEN® PRE EMERGENCE OR PREPLANT INCORPORATEO

AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide may be used as a preemergence or preplant incorporated herbicide. AMIBEN® may be applied and incorporated at planting or several days prior to planting. Uneven spray application or improper soil ~ :orporation of AMIBEN® can produce erratic weed control. Incorpor£te '1:nemical in the top 0 to 2 inch level as most weeds sprout in this zone. Refer to the "Directions for Incorporation" section of this label for approved incorporation eqUipment and operating procedures.

In coarse textured soils heavy rains on incorporated AMIBEN® Herbicide may move it below the weed seed germination zone and produce erratic weed control.

(

Use the higher rate of AMIBEN® when heavy populations of black nightshade, velvetleaf, wild mustard, cammon ragweed or Pennsylvania smartweed are expected. To insure good spray coverage use 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre with ground equipment or a minimUM of 5 gallons of water per acre by aircraft.

When band sprlying, .ount the spray nozzle on the last picker or row wheel so that planting and spraying Ire done in the same operation. Proper calibration and maintenance of desired nozzle height above the ground are very Important. Weeds growing In the middles ~etween the treated rows should be cultivated as soon as necessary.

Use care while cultivating to avoid throwing fresh 5011 on treated bands.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Applied according to directions and under no~mal growing conditions, the tank mix of AMIBE~ plus lasso plus Sencor or lexone will not. ~arm the treated crop. Over-lpplication may result in crop injury. Uneven application or improper soil incorporation of AMIBEN® plus lasso plus Sencor or lexone can result in erratic weed control or crop injury. Seedling disease, cold weather, deep planting, excessive moisture, soil pH over 7.5, high salt concentration, or drought may weaken crop seedlings and increase the possibility of damage from the tank mixtures. Under these conditions, delayed crop development or reduced yields may result.

Do not use on sand or on medium to fine soils with less than l~ organic matter. This mixture applied prep1ant incorporated may cause slight soybean injury early, but the soybeans should recover and the subsequent growth or yields should not be affected.

( Do not use the foliage from soybeans treated with the tank mix of •• ,IBEN® and Lasso and Sencor or AMIBEN® and Lasso and Lexone for feed or forage ..

Caution: Observe all cautions and limitations on labeling of all products used in mixtures.

"AMIBEN®" AND "LASSO" AND "lOROX" FOR SOYBEANS

A tank mixture of AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide and Lasso and lorox l or Lorox SOW may be applied as a preemergence broadcast tank mix treatment at time of planting.

A tank mixture of AMIBEN® Herbicide and lasso and lorox will control the following annual weeds: barnyardgrass, carpetweed, crabgrass, foxtail (green, yellow, giant), fall panicum, 1ambsquarters, pigweed, smartweed, ragweed, black nightshade, velvet1eaf and wild mustard, as well as all other weeds

( sted on the AMIBEN®, lasso and lorox labels. Ve1vet1eaf and cocklebur 'often germinate in soil at depths below the chemical penetration. Even though populat'ions of these weeds are reduced under normal rainfall conditions, weed seeds which germinate outside the chemical zone are not affected.

Except as directed in the "Conservation or Reduced Tillage" portion of this label, the seedbed should be free of existing weeds befor~ applIcation. Surface trash (plant residue from previous crop) should be unifurmll' distributed, and the seedbed should be free of clods. For uniform application of the tank mixture of AMIBEN® Herbicide and lasso and lorox use 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre for ground application. To prepare the tank mixture refer to the "Mixing Instructions" portion of this label. 00 NOT mix AMIBE~ Herbicide and lasso and lorox concentrates before the addition of water as an emulsion will not be formed.

Apply AHIBE~ and lasso and lorox as a preemergence treatment using the appropriate rates from the table below. Ap~ly the tank mixture during planting (behind the planter).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Except as directed in the "Conservation or Red,!ced Tillage" portion of this label, the seedbed should ~e free of existing weeds before application. Surface trash (plant residue from previous crop) should be uniformly distributed, and the seedbed should be free of clods.

To prepare the tank mi xture refer to the "M1xi ng Instructions" portion of this label. Apply the entire contents of the spray tank within 4 hours of initial mixing. Apply the tank mixture in from 10 to ZO gallons of water per acre using any properly calibrated low pressure sprayer equipped with herbicide tips and in-line strained screens no finer than 50 mesh.

For best results AMIBEN® plus Treflan plus Sencor or Lexone should be incorporated as soon as possible after application. The three way tank mixture must be incorporated within 24 hours after application. If AMIBEN® plus Treflan plus Sencor or Lexone is applied to a wet, warm soil surface or

( the wind velocit.Y is 10 mph or higher, variable weed control may result Trom delaying incorporation beyond 24 hours.

Incorporation should place the AMIBEN® Herbicide plus Treflan plus Sencor or Lexone into the top Z to 3 inches of the final seedbed. Refer to the incorporation portion of the Treflan label for approved incorporation equipment and operating procedures.

CULTIVA1ION AFTER PLANTING

Soil treated with AMIBEN® plus Treflan plus Sencor or Lexone may be shallow-cultivated, rotary-hoed or hand-hoed without reducing the weed control activity of the tank mixture. DIRECTIONS ·FOR USE

Except as directed in the "Conservation or Reduced Tillage" portion of this label, the seedbed should be free of existing weeds before application. Surface trash (plant residue from previous crop) should be uniformly distributed, and the seedbed should be free of clods.

To prepare the tank. mixture refer to the "Mixing Instructions" portion of this label. Apply the entire contents of the spray tank. within 4 hours of initial mixing. Apply the tank. mixture in from 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre using any properly calibrated low pressure sprayer equipped with herbicide tips and in-line strained screens no finer than 50 mesh.

For best results AMIBEN® plus Basa1in plus Sencor or Lexone should be incorporated as soon as possible after application. The thr~e way tank. mixture must be incorporated within 24 hours after application. If AMIBEN® plus Basa1in plus Sencor or Lexone is applied to a wet, warm soil surface or

( . the wind velocity is 10 mph or higher, variable weed control may result ,,'om del ayi ng i ncorporat i on beyond 24 hours.

(

Incorporation should place the AMIBEN® Herbicide plus Basa1in plus Sencor or Lexone into the top 2 to 3 inches of the final seedbed. Refer to the incorporation portion of the Basa1in label for approved incorporation equipment and operating procedures.

CULTIVATION AFTER PLANTING

Soil treated with AMIBEN® plus Basa1in plus Sencor or Lexone may be shallow-cultivated, rotary-hoed or hand-hoed without reducing the weed control activity of the tank. mixture. Do not cultivate deeper than the AMIBEN® plus Basa1in plus Sencor or Lexone treated layer of soil since this may bring untreated soil to the surface and poor weed control may result.

AMIBEN® PROGRAMMED CONTROL OF WILD'PROSO MILLET IN SOYBEANS

When used as directed below, a weed control program of sequential AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide applications will control wild proso millet In addition to all other weed species listed on the AMIBE~ label.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

1 to 4 days before planting apply a preplant Incorporated tank mixture of 4 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® plus the full labeled rate of another grass control materia' such as Treflan, Basalln, Prowl, Lasso or DUal as directed elsewhere on thl s 1 abe 1 . Mter soybean emergence, but before emergence of 'lind pro so millet seedlings mike a second broadcast application of 4 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® per acre. This application should be made when soybeans are In the cotyledon to 2nd trifoliate growth stage, but before emergence of wild proso ( llet seedlings. Under normal conditions this will be 10 to 21 days after ~,antlng. If wild proso millet or other weeds have begun to Qmerge use a rotary hoe to remove emerged seedling weeds.

Do not feed straw or green fodder from soybeans treated 'IIlth AMIBE~ postemergence. Observe caution statements on this and all other herbicide 1 abel s.

"AMIBEN®" POSTEMERGENCE ON SOYBEANS

APPLICATION EQUIPMENT

BROADCAST APPLICATION

Good coverage Is essential for maximum weed control. Use 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre by ground or 3 to 5 gallons of wat.er per acre by !1r. Wide spaced, low pressure, flood type nozzles do not give adequate ~. lerage. Nozzle pressure should be at least 30 pounds per square Inch. Width of swath must not exceed length of boom.,

BAND APPLICATIONS

Soil uptake of AMIBE~ Chloramben Herbicide from postemergence applications Is Important. For this reason AMIBE~ Herblr.lde may be applied In a postemergence band ONLY If the following precautions are ta~,en. Spray nozzles must be directed to spray both the emerged weeds and the 5011 surface.

On postemergence band sprayers with multiple nozzles, the side nozzles should be directed toward the ground at approximately a 45 degree angle to apply a band of spray on the 5011 surface equal In width to one half the soybean row spacing. Both side nozzles should spray the same soil surface areai one from each side of the row. When these directions are followed, the broadcast rates given below should be reduced by one half to glvQ the same rate of active Ingredient In the band that would be achieved frem a broadcast application at the full rate. Use sufficient water for good coverage.

"AMIBEN®" AND "CROP OIL" FOR POSTEMERGENCE WEED CONTROL IN SOYBEANS

For programmed weed control apply a preemergence or preplant incorporated grass herbicide at planting followed by a later application of AMIBEN® plus crop oil concentrate when soybeans are In the cracking to ~th trifoliate stage of growth. Apply a tank mixture of 6 quarts of AMIBEN® plus 1 quart per acre of crop oil concentrate to control or suppress 1 to 8 Inch ve1vetleaf and 1 to 3 inch Pennsylvania smartweed, common ragweed and pigweed causing weeds to either die or cease growth and become noncompetitive with the crop. Application at this timing provides both postemergence activity on the above species and extended preemerger.ce activity on those late germinating annual 9rass and broadleaf weeds listed In the general information section of the AMIBEN® label which have not yet germinated at the time of treatment. 00 not apply later than 33 days after planting. Make broadcast applications in 10 to 20 gallons water per acre by ground or 3 to 5 gallons water per acre ~y air. Good coverage is essential for maximum weed control. Wide spaced, low , °essure, flood type nozzles do not give satisfactory coverage. Nozzle

' •. essure should be at least 30 pounds per square inch. Width of swath must not exceed length of boom. Under good soil moisture conditions this treatment will control small grassy weeds (1 to 2 leaf) if rainfall occurs within ~8 hours of upplication.

Caution: Do not use soybean straw or green fodder which has been treated postemergence with AMIBEN® for livestock feed. Do not apply later than 33 days after planting.

Do not apply more than 6 quarts per acre of AMIBEN® alone or in combination as a postemergence treatment. If a preemergence or preplant soil incorporated application of AMIBEN® is made, do not apply more than a total of 12 quarts of AMIBEN® per acre per growing season (6 quarts preemergence plus 6 quarts postemergence).

AMIBEN® AND CULTIVATION POSTEMERGENCE ON SOYBEANS (

If. heavy rainfall has prevented application of preplant incorporated or preemergence herbicides AMIBEN® Chlorambell Herbicide may be applied when soybeans ire In the crackil\g to second tr~1fol1ate3 stage of growtl1 at the rate of 5 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® Herbicide per acre. Grass and broadleaf weeds which have emerged must be removed. To remove these germinated weeds, use shallow cultivation with a tool such as a rotary hoe before or after AMIBEN® Herbicide has been applied. Avoid ridging the soil If a cultivator Is used after AMIBEN® has been applied. Use the hiBgher rate on fine textured soils or when heavy weed populations are expected.

Caution: Do not use soybean straw or green fodder which has been treated postemergence with AMIBEN® for livestock feed. Do not apply later than 33 days after planting.

00 not apply more than 6 quarts per acre of AM~BEN® alone or In combination as a preplant soil incorporated or preemergence treatment. If a postemergenr.e application of AMlBEN® Is made, do not apply nlore than a total of 12 quarts of AMIBEN® per acre per growing season (6 quarts preemergence plus 6 quarts postemergence).

"AMIBE~" AND "BlAZER" FOR POSTEMERGENCE WEED CONTROL IN SOYBEANS

GENERAL INFORMATION

When applied to young actively growing broad1eaf weed seedlings the combination of AMIBEN® Ch10ramben Herbicide plus Blazer will contr'ol all weeds listed on the Blazer label Including cocklebur, jimsonweed, mornlngg10ry, Pennsylvania smartweed, pigweed, Eastern black nightshade, and common ragweed and will also provide preemergence control of those grass and broad1eaf weeds listed In the general Information section of the AMIBEN® label which have not yet germinated at time of treatment. While the combination of AMIBEN® plus Blazer will provide suppression of small (2 to 3 leaf) foxtail and fall panlcum It must not be used as a basic grass control program and should only be applied to fields which have received a preemergence or prep1ant Incorporated grass herbicide treatment as directed on the AMIBEN® label. In addition to providing preemergence control of late

i -rmlnatlng weeds the combination of AMIBEN® plus Blazer will provide _Jntro1 of ve1vet1eaf and Increased control of Pennsylvania smartweed, and pigweed which are approaching the maximum weed size listed on the Blazer label.

USE DIRECTIONS

Apply a tank mixture of 5 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® plus 1 to 2 pints Blazer when broad1eaf weeds have 2 to 4 leaves as directed on the Blazer label (usually 14 to 21 days after planting). When the lower rate Is used, one quart per acre of crop oil concentrate must be added as directed below and on the Blazer label. The one pint per acre rate of Blazer will not provide adequate control of mornlngg1ory or nightshade. Use the higher rate no ~Jrnlngg1ory and nightshade and on larger weeds. Use 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre with ground equipment or 5 to 10 gallons of water per acre by air to Insure good coverage. Wide spaced, low pressure, flood type nozzles do not give satisfactory coverage. Nozzle pressure should be at least 30 pounds per square inch. Width of swath must not exceed length of boom. Do not make ( lllc~tlons later than 33 days after planting. Refer to the Blazer label for specific directions regarding the addition of a surfactant or crop all. Follow these same directions when using the tank mixture of AMIBEN® plus Blazer to determine when to add surfactant or crop oil except that 1 quart per acre of crop all concentrate must be added to provide accep\~b1e control of ve1vet1eaf or when the lower rates of Blazer are used.

Caution: Do not use soybean straw or green fodder which has been treated postemergence with AMIBEN® plus Blazer for livestock feed. Read and observe all directions and cautions on labels for Blazer and AMIBEN®. Do not apply later than 33 days after planting.

"AMIBEN®" AND "BUTYRAC®" 200 FOR POSTEMERGENCE WEED CONTROL IN SOYBEANS

GENERAL INFORMATION

When applied as directed below a tank mixture of AMIBEN® Ch10ramben Herbicide plus BUTYRAC® 200 will control or suppress pigweed, ve1vet1eaf, " cocklebur and Pennsylvania smartweed causing them to either die or become noncompetitive with the crop. In addi, ion, this tank mixture will provide preemergence control of those grass and broad1eaf weeds listed in the General Information section of the AMIBEN® label which have not yet germinated at time of treatment. The tank mixture of AMIBEIi® plus BUTYRAC® 200 will not control emerged grassy weeds and should only be used on fields which have received a pre emergence or prep1ant incorporated grass control herbicide. This com~ination may cause temporary twisting, curling or malformation of soybean leaves and stems. Soybeans will usually outgrow these effects with nu reduction in yield. Do not apply to fields which are under stress from drought cool temperature or disease, as a reduction in yield can be expected.

( .od coverage is essential for maximum weed control. Wide spaced, low pressure, flood type nozzles do not give satisfactory coverage. Nozzle pressure should be at least 30 pounds per square inch. Width of swath must not exceed length of boom.

USE OJ RECTIONS

Apply a tank mixture of 5 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® plus 2 fluid ounces BUTYRAC® 200 in 10 to 20 gallons of water per acre by ground equipment when soybeans have 2 to 4 trifoliate leaves but before weeds are 4 inches tall. Use the higher rate when weeds are over 2 inches tall. Do not make application later than 33 days after planting. When weed pressure is heavy addition of 1 pint per acre of crop oil concentrate has improved weed control, but may cause more soybean malformation as described above.

Caution: Do not use soybean straw or green fodder which has been treated ,~~stemergence with AMIBEN® plus BUTYRAC® 200 for livestock feed. Read and \ serve directions and cautions on labels for BUTYRAC® 200 and '~IBEN®. Do not "make applications later than 33 days after planting.

"AMIBEN®" PLUS "ALANAP" FOR POSTEMERGENCE WEED CONTROL IN SOYBEANS

GENERAL INFORMATION

When applied according to the directions be10w a t~nk mixture of AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide plus Alanap w1ll cO'.,trol or suppr".s velvetleaf, pigweed, COCklebur, and pennsylvania smartweed causing th~m to either die or become noncompetitive with the ~rop. While the combination of AMIBEN® plus Alanap often provides control or suppression of small (2 to 3 leaf) annual grasses 1t should only be al?pl1ed to fields which have received a preemergence or preplant incorporated application of a grass control herbicide. The tank mixture of AMIBE~~ plus Alanap may cause temporary stunting of soybeans. Under normal conditions the soybeans will recover and yields will not be affected.

To insure good spray coverage use iO to 20 gallons of water per acre with ground equipment or a minimum of 5 gallons of water per acre by aircraft.

When band spraying, mount the spray nozzle on the packer or row wheel so that planting and spraying are done in the same operation. Proper calibration

( I maintenance of desired nozzle height above the ground are very important. Weeds growing in the middles between the treated rows should be cultivated as soon as necessary. Use care while cultivating to avoid throwing fresh soil on trea ted bands.

If sufficient rain does not fall within 5 days after spraying AMIBEN® Herbicide as a preemergence treatment, but there is enough soil moisture to germinate weeds and grasses, a light cultivation with ~ rotary hoe or similar tool will up-root these small broadleaf weeds and grasses. The shallow mixing of AMIBEN® in the surf~ce soil will not interfere with the action of AMIBEN® when rains come.

DIRECTIONS .FOR USE ON PEANU~S

AMIBEN® CRACKING APPLICATIONS ON PEANUTS

AMIBEN® Chloramben Herbicide controls many annual grass ·ahd broadleaf weeds in peanuts wh~n applied as a cracking treatment. It is especially effective in controlling Florida beggarweed (Oesmodium tortuosum).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

_, 0";

Apply AMIBEN® at a rate of 4 to 6 ~uarts per broadcast acre. Apply as a ground cracking treatment when the first weeds become visible and up to the time when the oldest peanut plants reach the two leaf stage. Use a minimum of 5 gallons of water per acre for air applications or 10 gallons of water per acre for ground applications. If weeds have begun to emerge at time of application addition of 1 quart per acre of crop oil concentrate is recommended to improve control of these weeds. (

00 NOT apply more than 6 quarts per acre of AMIBEN® Herbicide to the same field of peanuts in the same season.

FOR PEANUTS IN OKLAHOMA AND NORTH TEXAS

Plant and treat in the same operation. Apply at the rate of 4 to 6 quarts AMIBEN® Ch10ramben Herbicide per broadcast acre. The higher rate should be used on clay loams, clay or high organic (3 to 8 percent) mineral soils. Use enough water for good spray coverage.

When band spraying, mount the spray nozzle on the packer or row wheel so that planting and spraying are done in the same operation. Proper calibration and maintenance of desired nozzle height above the ground are very import3nt. Weeds growing in the middles between the treated rows should be cultivated as soon as necessary.

( Use care while cultivating to avoid throwing ;resh soil on treated bands.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE ON SNAPBEANS (GREEN AND YELLOW)

Apply AMIBEN® at the rate of 4 to 5 quarts per.broadcast acre as a preemergence treatment in sufficient ~ater for good spray coverage (10 to 20 gallons of ~ater per acre). Use the higher rate of AMIBEN® on heavy or high organic mineral soils or where Black Nightshade is a problem. Use the lower rate on loam soils. Do not use on sandy soils low in clay content or with less than 1% organic matter. Attach the applicator to the planter 50 that planting and spraying are done in the same operation. Rain or sprinkler irrigation carries AMIBEN® into the soil where weed seeds sprout. If weeds begin to emerge after AMIBEN® application, but prior to rainfall or irrigation, a light cultivation is recommended to up-root the small broadleaf weeds and grasses. The shallow mixing of AMIBEN® in the soil surface will not interfere with its weed killing action when rain comes.

WARNING:Stunting of beans has been observed when rains wash the chemical into contact with the germinating seed or the root system of

( young plants. Und~r good growing conditions plants normally recover and yields are generally not affected.

Heavy or prolonged rainfall may move AMIBEN® below the weed seed germination zone and produce erratic weed control.

Use the higher rate of AMIBEN® on heavier soils or where high populations of black nightshade, ve1vet1eaf, mustard or smartweed are exp~cted.

The use of the activated carbon plus vermiculite anticrustant system in the seed furrow will protect the cantaloupe seedling from the phytotoxic effects of AMIBEN®. When used in this manner AMIBEN® will not control weed seeds germinating within the verm1;u1ite treated row.
