Definitions

Blank - Sheets of seals, address labels, etc., that are not personalized with a person’s name Dead - paper that does not glow under long-wave UV light Dull Gum - a matte finish gum with no shine, also called tropical or dry gum Folded - a sheet that has been creased by folding other than the original folds Glows - hi-bright under long-wave UV light Margin - selvage of a sheet Printers Mark - a tiny mark added to one or more seals on a sheet to identify the printer; from 1936 to 1995, a letter on a seal near the center of the sheet Skip Perf – some perforations omitted on certain rows to prevent separation along folds Stock Number - a small number like “92-20-T2” or “8000-3” in the margin of some recent sheets Union Label - the insignia of the printers union that printed the sheet, in the margin of many sheets since 1952.
