Step 1: Go to usc.edu/firstlogin

Step 2: Type your First Name, then your Last Name (as it appears on your USC ID 

Card.   

*Some  students have  

multiple first or last names.

Step 5: You should see this page. Then click 

the “I Agree” button at the bottom after writing down your  username and email address.  

(Your username is what you will use to 

log in to USC  computers (but not MyUSC portal or Blackboard). Your 

username is the first part of your email  address, then “@usc.edu”). 

 *If you see a page that says “Account Not Found”, please try again, making sure your date of birth and name are correct and that you have clicked the right button to activate 

your email. If you still have problems, email

Step 6: Now you can  create a  password.  Then, type your USC ID number  (10 digit  

number) and click “Set  Password”. 

Password Hints:  Select a  password 

that you can easily remember. Make 

sure it has at least (1)  one number (like 2, 6, or 5) 

and at least (1) one CAPITAL letter; for 

example, Trojan5. Type 

your new password in both boxes. Keep this password in a very safe place and do not forget it. The password MUST be 7 or 8 characters long. Trojan5 is ok, but Password5 is NOT (because it has 9  characters).  

Sky  recommends using some part of your 

name and the year of your birth (Example: 

Tom1985)

*If you have already set your password and want to change 

it, click on the “Password Change Web Page” Link. You should type your old password in and then create a new one. If you need to have ITS reset your pass‐word, they will re‐set it to your USC ID 

number  (10 digits).

Step 7: You should see this page.  

You should wait at least one hour to access your 

email account.  It could take 1‐2 days for your account to be active at the USC Computer Labs 

and Libraries as well.  

Step 8: Go to email.usc.edu  Type in your username (not the @usc.edu though) and your password. Remember to capitalize letters in your 

password.  (Example: Trojan5, with a BIG “T” and little “rojan”) 

 Then click the “Log In” button.
