A module for GEFEG.FX is available for working with SAP IDocs.

Description

SAP IDoc and GEFEG.FX SAP's standard R/3 business software is used by many companies around the globe. The modular structure of R/3 enables the use of one and the same software for the continuous processing of all business processes in the company. SAP IDocs (Intermediate Documents) are used for the internal transport of business data between these software modules. Business data is usually exchanged with external partners on the basis of standardized EDI formats such as EANCOM®, UN/EDIFACT, VDA, or X12. The IDoc module of GEFEG.FX extends the possibilities of SAP R/3, in particular to specify, document, test and transfer user-specific IDocs to productive EDI systems in connection with EDI assignments (mappings).

How do I transfer IDoc types into GEFEG.FX? GEFEG.FX imports IDoc types via a file interface. On the R/3 side, this file can be generated in three different formats on each front-end:

• RSEIDOC3 - Parser Report • SAP Meta IDocs contain more detailed descriptions and codes and are therefore

recommended by GEFEG as preferred import format • XML IDocs - IDocs in XML format

What do I do with the IDocs in GEFEG.FX?

• Usually you import the file interfaces into a standard to work with in GEFEG.FX. • Then you use the GEFEG.FX Guide Editor to describe the IDoc types in a MIG

(Message Implementation Guideline). • Sometimes it is only a matter of using the special report functions of GEFEG.FX for a

special display of the IDoc types, for example as a branching diagram.

• Or you want to compare an exported IDoc (outbound) or an IDoc that has just been converted (inbound) with your MIG.

What output does GEFEG.FX generate?

• Documentation in DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, CHM and HTML format. The appearance of the documentation and the HTML links can be defined completely freely.

• Test data • IDoc interpretations that contain at least attribute values and attribute names. The

basis for this is the comparison of a concrete IDoc message with an existing IDoc specification.
