The following MIKCo fleet and demo boats have various levels of use, but all are seaworthy, maintained, and most ready to go to sea. Pricing reflects their condition. We know each of our own boats, and will tell you all we know. These are not new retail; all are sold “As Is”. Please respect that we cannot provide our usual full-fledged, multi-hour to multi-day demos, with our usual retail fitting advice, boat design, manufacturing differences, and one-on-one service. You are welcome to, and need to make an appointment to come out to Peaks Island to see these value priced boats – just please understand that we cannot provide our nearly unlimited new retail-level advice, time and education. We are familiar with each boat here and will try to help you figure how each boat’s performance and specs link up to your interests and needs. We want to help you with the right boat for you out on the sea to help you be both wise and safe.

NDK Romany Classic, Standard Expedition layup - $1,000 White/White/British Racing Green with green keel strip. This Y 2010 is rough and well used, but 100% seaworthy, solid, dry and ready to rock garden and play. Tom has been paddling it the last couple of years. It’s had some repairs over the years, and certainly does look like it’s well-used, which it has been. But know it is a full on NDK Romany with triple bulkheads, three hatches, Silva 70P compass installed. An NDK foam seat has replaced the original composite. This one features a rear rope skeg. Super safe and easy keyhole cockpit makes for easy entry and exit. Custom front bulkhead is 34” with Yakima pegs. The Romany design is an easy, overall do most everything boat. Its radically high secondary stability makes bracing and rolling like a good dream. For paddlers 125-190 lbsDimensions 16’ x 21.5”

NDK Romany Surf, Standard Expedition layup - $2,900 Red/White/Black. Very lightly used private

boat traded in, almost new looking, no known issues with its build or use, just too many Surfs in our demo fleet. Triple composite bulkheads glassed in place. Triple hatches. 3rd generation adjustable seat. Large and wider keyhole cockpit with knee bumps for those with well developed thighs and tighter hamstrings. Yakima aluminum footpegs. Kari slider skeg with NDK composite box. These are a larger cross-section Romany for a more solid paddler. The extra length in the stern keeps the boat from “squashing” under power and increases overnight volume. All day comfortable with large and way solid in bumpy water with its NDK super high secondary stability. For paddlers 150-225 lbsDimensions: 16’2” x 22”

NDK Romany Excel, Standard Expedition layup - $2,900 Red/White/Yellow with Red keel strip. Private boat trade with no known issues. Triple composite bulkheads glassed in place. Triple hatches. 3rd gen adjustable seat. NDK’s largest and widest keyhole cockpit with the knee bumps for the larger paddlers and those with tighter hamstrings. Yakima aluminum footpegs. Kari slider skeg with NDK composite box. These are the largest cross section Romany, are high-performance full on sea kayaks for the largest paddlers – we’ve had paddlers up to 6’7”, 290 lbs playing hard in these boats. Truly do-anything, full on, fun and playful sea kayak for the biggest paddlers. All day comfort, all waters boat in a maneuverable, safe 16+ foot package. Another Y 2010 that’s been well used by Tom on many overnights, but cloth has never been broken. It’s a dry boat, triple bulkheads, three hatches, Silva 70P compass installed. Has the newer and neutral 3rd generation composite seat. Yakima sliders & footpegs. Karitech skeg slider with composite rear skeg box. Custom front bulkhead. We feel the Explorer is The Standard for reliable, safe expeditioning where it’s been paddled tens of thousands of big water miles, and remains many pro paddlers first choice. NDK Latitude, Standard Expedition layup - $2,100 Pastel Turquoise/White/Curry, Standard Expedition layup, Long keyhole cockpit, 3rd generation adjustable seat, custom front bulkhead at 34". Karitech slider with composite skeg box, with knee bumps. This MIKCo demo is in very good condition with unique colors. Foredeck dragon in Curry. Sizing is between Pilgrim

NDK Romany LV, Standard Expedition layup - $850 White/White/Black. Fleet boat. 3 bulkhead, 3 hatch, slider skeg. MIKCo repaired some stern damage when dropped in cold weather; otherwise very light use. Shorter keyhole cockpit. This LV has a very low foredeck which is why we suggest this is for paddlers under 135. Solid, stable, fun, playful NDK. For paddlers under 135 lbs Dimensions: 16’ x 21.5”

NDK Sport RM - $1,200 Red with Black cockpit or Lilac with White cockpit. Both were fleet boats and both in good shape. 2nd generation design with well-constructed and dry foam bulkheads. Unique fiberglass cockpit rim with large, wide keyhole. Full deck lines and bungees. 3 bulkheads, 3 hatches. Karitek slider skeg. Based on the Romany Surf. These are solid and excellent single dump, Rotomolded boats with high integrity, dry bulkheads for a (plastic) sea kayak. These boats are all day comfortable for average sized paddlers, easy entry and exit, maneuverable, stable with great NDK secondary stability, do-most-everything- above-average suitable for athletic beginner/novices to advanced play paddlers. NDK Explorer LV - $1,500 Green/White/Yellow. Fleet boat. 3 bulkhead, 3 hatch. Smaller keyhole cockpit. Foam seat. Karitech slider skeg and skeg box. NDK Expedition layup. For longer, thin paddlers with its lower deck (1.5” lower deck than Explorer) and shorter and narrower cockpit. As a full length hull, this is a premium boat for trips & expeditions. NDK Pilgrim - $1,200 White/White/Black. Fleet boat. 3 bulkhead, 3 hatch. Slider skeg. Small keyhole cockpit. 3rd generation adjustable seat. NDK Expedition layup. Narrower design for ease of controlling one’s edge, bracing and rolling. Deck has knee bumps to increase smaller paddler power and comfort while leaving lower deck for all other purposes. Sharp, clean line through the water, high efficiency for the smaller paddler. For smaller paddlers up to 150 lbsDimensions:15.75’ x 20” x 12”

Outer Islander - $2,500 Natural wood finish. Very lightly used, excellent nearly new condition. Classic, gorgeous, solid, high quality built wood strip sea kayak with custom carbon-kevlar sea cockpit rim, mahogany trim details contrast with the softwood strips. Triple wooden bulkheads glassed in place. Three hatches, recessed deck fittings, full deck lines, bungees. Fast with strong tracking characteristics, high secondary stability, with decent internal volume for journeying. Out of Newfound Woodworks of NH. Tiderace Xtra, Standard G-Core - $3,600White with Black stripe. Lightly used demo model in excellent condition. MIKCo imported these super high quality built boats while they were being manufactured by Cobra in Thailand; some of the best built modern boats we have experienced. Tiderace Xtra HV, Standard G-Core - $3,600 Blue with Black Stripe. Very lightly used demo model in excellent condition. It’s a stable, sleek performance based sea kayak oriented toward surf and rock hopping for the larger paddler. For paddlers 175-250 lbsDimensions: 16'7" x 22.25”VCP Argonaut, standard layup – $1,500 Melon/White/Orange. Fleet boat, a bigger volume Aquanaut which is similar to the NDK Explorer. These are built like our NDKs, this one in a durable, long-lasting standard expedition layup. VCP slider skeg. Two Valley oval hatches plus VCP’s 8” round day hatch, I’d argue the best hatches in the biz. Full deck lines and bungees. Very high initial and super secondary stability; I remember several times not bothering to brace when side surfing. Greater larger long trip boat. VCP Aquanaut LV, Carbon Kevlar (CK) layup - $2,100 Ivory/Ivory/Purple. Traded in by one of our regular paddlers. Strong Valley vacuumed CK build. Two VCP oval hatches and one standard VCP round day hatch. Valley slider skeg and Valley keyhole cockpit. Well built, gently used before we took it in on trade, one repair, never been a fleet boat This was Valley’s answer to the success of Nigel’s Explorer but with Valley’s design philosophy, a bit deeper midsection than NDKs as the foredeck offers more room. High secondary stability, good bumpy water boat, with Valley’s shallow V hull for greater efficiency and glide. It’s a full-length boat with roughly Explorer sizing and Valley’s unique sea paddling design. For paddlers 135-175 lbsDimensions: 17’1” x 21.5”

VCP Aquanaut RM, triple dump – $1,100 Orange. Fleet boat. VCP slider skeg. Slalom cockpit. Two Valley oval hatches plus its 8” round day hatch. Full deck lines and bungees. Strong, durable but heavy, with VCP’s early well-built triple dump RM layup. Solid, for real, long lasting Valley sea boat sized like our Explorers. For paddlers 140-200 lb Dimensions 17’7” x 22.5” x 13.5”

VCP Pintail, ocean cockpit, standard layup – $1,200 Rail Blue/White/Black. One of our guide’s personal boats. Built 1997. Short oval ocean cockpit. Rear rope skeg. Henderson foredeck mounted cockpit pump. Recessed deck fittings, full deck lines. 70 P compass. 3 composite bulkheads, 3 VCP hatches (with one large oval). These are great fun, traditional British designs, very maneuverable fish-form design. The Pintail’s rounded midsection, high rocker, upswept ends made this one of the very best early play/rock garden boats, yet many of us paddled on weekend trips as well. VCP Skerray, standard layup – $1,400 Maroon/White/Yellow. A true classic, and the boat paddled by VCP’s founder, Frank Goodman in his last decade or so expeditioning. Excellent condition, this is our demo model, not a fleet boat. 3 bulkhead, 3 hatch with one oval. Rear rope skeg. Custom front bulkhead. Slalom cockpit. Fish form hull. Very light use. Paddles like a larger Pintail but more relaxed, more initial stability. For paddlers 150-210 lbsDimensions: 17’2” x 23” x 13”VCP Skerray RM – $750Grey. Necky Kayaks These Neckys are discontinued. Rotomolded, made in Maine, modern high secondary stability hulls, bulkheads, skeg or ruddered… These are some of the last of these great boats. Necky Manitou 14 RM ALL SOLD Lemon Lime. New and Used. 2 well done bulkheads, 2 hatches. Good skeg. Full deck lines, adjustable seat. Large, wide, long cockpit. 2 available in Lemon. Either new or nearly new. Made in Old Town, ME. I think of these as performance recreational boats as designer Murray paddled a Romany for years. Although recreational in dimensions, these Manitou’s have modern, sleek, high secondary stability hulls. Necky Amaruk Tandem RM with rudder- $900 Yellow rotomolded plastic. Traded in by Peaks Island family; comes with paddles and skirts and kayak dolly. With two large cockpits, two hatches. Foot operated rudder. We and many other outfitters relied heavily on these doubles (made in Old Town, ME) for many years. Easy, solid, dependable, maneuverable and controllable. Ok, they aren’t all that pretty, but they sure do bring smiles when paddled; and their width, hull shape and length make them reasonable even for little kids in the bow (on lighter wind days). Old Town Discovery 169 canoe, Green - Make an offer Almost new, barely used. At nearly 17 feet, the Discovery 169 is the longest in the Discovery series. Old Town Appalachian, Royalex, Green SOLD Old Town’s high rocker multi purpose white water camping boat with its clean rocker for up to class three with kneeling thwarts. Loaded, it hammers through the chop, flared ends for dryness and still spins on a dime. Handles loads with flair with its shallow arch hull.
