STRENGTH Specific to strength, Laidlaw balustrades are in accordance with BS 6399 and BS 6180 Balustrade strength is measured in Kilonewtons and all Laidlaw balustrades achieve 0.74kN loading as a minimum which has more than enough strength to comply in all areas that are not susceptible to congregation or overcrowding Simply put, Laidlaw balustrades are fully compliant with all regulations – no need to worry about the balustrade if you are having friends over for a BBQ. FIXING Structural glass, as used within our St. Ives, Brighton, Frameless Glass and Post & Rail systems, is very heavy and needs to fix directly to steel or into solid concrete Balustrade systems with stainless steel posts can be fixed into solid timbers or brick/blockwork. GLASS Glass is extremely tough and highly recommended as a guarding/balustrade, it has no gaps large enough for children to squeeze through or try to use as a climbing frame. AFTERCARE Handrail & balustrades should be cleaned regularly with warm soapy water Glass panels should be cleaned as you would normally clean a glass window at home Aluminium structural glass channels will not rust or pit for 25 years, even by the coast Low maintenance for the end-user will ensure the product still looks great in years to come.
