1. Introduction

The Sense Config Android App is an easy to use tool for fully configuring Omni-ID

Sense IoT products using an NFC enabled Android mobile phone/tablet.

Specific configurable parameters vary depending on the device being configured but

typical examples include:

Device awake/asleep, beacon rates, sensor thresholds, network setting, beacon

profiles etc.

The app can be used to configure all other settings such as beacon rates and Sensor

thresholds.

For details of specific of configurable parameters please review specific device user

guide.

The Sense Config Android App allows the user to add and use pre-saved profiles to

configure multiple devices in local and remote (connected to OmniSphere) mode.

Profiles created in remote login mode and saved as shared are available to all users of

the organization when logged in as remote login mode on different mobile devices.


2. Firmware

The Sense Config App Version 2.0.0-a3 is compatible with Sense Devices with the

following Firmware version and above:

• Sense Locate Position: 2.1.3

• Sense Locate Kinetic: 2.1.4

• Sense Condition Distance: 10.2

• Sense Condition Alert: 10.2

The Sense Config App Version 2.0.0-a3 is designed to work with V2 Sense devices

but can also be used for older Sense devices when blind mode is selected.


3. Login

3.1. Open the Sense Config App.

3.2. From the System Settings screen there is a choice of ‘Local’ or ‘Remote’ login type.

• Using Remote login the App is connected to OmniSphere and profiles created

can be shared with all connected Apps on this organization


3.3. Remote login:

3.3.1. Select ‘Remote’ from the Login Type dropdown menu.

3.3.2. Enter host details as required.

Note: Host details provided by Omni-ID.

3.3.3. Login with the same Username and Password used with OmniSphere.


3.3.4. User role options provided as per user rights defined in OmniSphere for that

user.


3.4. Local login:

3.4.1. Select ‘Local’ from the Login Type dropdown menu.

3.4.2. Login with the Password.

Note: Password provided by Omni-ID.


4. Home page

The Sense Config App has a choice of two Home Pages:

• Default Home Page - allows the user to scan the device without having to select

the device type from the menu, the app automatically detects and selects the

device type

The Default Home Page is only compatible with the following Firmware version

and above:

o Sense Locate Position: 2.1.3

o Sense Locate Kinetic: 2.1.4

o Sense Condition Distance: 10.2

o Sense Condition Alert: 10.2

• Optional Home Page - al lows the user to manually select the device type before

scanning the device

4.1. Home page:

From the default page you can select:

• ‘Read Tag’ to scan a device (device type auto detected)

• ‘Bluetooth tags nearby’ to scan for Bluetooth devices

• ‘Profiles’ to access any previously saved profiles

From the optional home page you can select:

• The device type you want to scan

• ‘Bluetooth tags nearby’ to scan for Bluetooth devices

• ‘Profiles’ to access any previously saved profiles

‘Sync Now’ is used to synchronize profiles created on the App to OmniSphere.

4.2. To select the optional home page:

4.2.1. Swipe finger on screen from left to right to open ‘User Settings’ menu.

4.2.2. Untick ‘Detect tag type’ to use the optional home screen.


5. Blind Mode

The Sense Config App is designed to work with V2 Sense devices but can also be used

for older Sense devices when blind mode is selected.

In blind mode the Sense Config App will not try to detect a Tag type, allowing the user to

choose the Tag type manually from the App’s optional Home Page.

When the Sense Device is scanned by the Android device the Sense Config App will

read and update to the Sense Device’s NFC memory.

Warning: Make sure to select the correct device type as the App will write selected

values to Device’s NFC memory without taking into account Device type

presented to Mobile Android Device. App will update device’s memory as per

Device type selected on App.

5.1. To select blind mode:

5.1.1. Swipe finger on screen from left to right to open ‘User Settings’ menu.

5.1.2. Tick ‘Blind mode’ to use blind mode.


6. Sense Locate Position

6.1. To configure a Sense Locate Position device:

6.1.1. From the default home page select ‘Read Tag’ or from the optional home

page select ‘Sense Locate Position’.

6.1.2. To scan a device, tap the Android mobile phone/tablet on the Sense Locate

Position device.

6.1.3. The Sense Config App will read and display the data from the device.

6.1.4. Select new values from the drop-down lists as required or select a previously

saved profile from the Profile drop-down list.

6.1.5. Select ‘Update’ to save any new values to the device, the Sense Config App

will display “Update finished successfully” and populate fields with the new

updated values.

6.1.6. Select ‘Save Profile’ and name the profile to save the current settings to be

reused again to configure multiple devices.


6.2. To add new LoRa values.

6.2.1. Select ‘Add New LoRa Keys’.

6.2.2. Enter new values in field titled “APP EUI” (16 HEX Charaxters-8 Bytes).

6.2.3. Enter new values in filed titled “APP Key” (32 HEX Characters-16 Bytes).

6.2.4. If values in field 1 match with values in confirmation field, then both fields go

green otherwise one stays pink indicating that values do not match in two

fields.

7. Sense Locate Kinetic

7.1. To configure a Sense Locate Kinetic device:


page select ‘Sense Locate Kinetic’.

7.1.2. To scan a device, tap the Android mobile phone/tablet on the Sense Locate

Kinetic device.







7.1.5. A local name can be added of up to 10 characters.

7.2. To add Beacon profiles:

7.2.1. Select the beacon type from the Beacon Type drop-down list.

7.2.2. The following fields can be populated with new values depending on Beacon

Profile:

• iBeacon = iBeacon UUID(32 HEX Characters-16 Bytes), Major Number(4

HEX Characters-2 Bytes), Minor Number(4 HEX Characters-2 Bytes)

• Eddystone = Eddystone UUID(20 HEX Charecters-10 Bytes), Instance(12

HEX Characters-6 Bytes)

1 = Current values tag is configured with.

2 = Fields to enter new values.

3 = Confirmation field.

10. Bluetooth Tags Nearby

10.1. To scan for Bluetooth devices nearby:

10.1.1. Select ‘Bluetooth tags nearby’ from the home page to scan for Bluetooth

devices.

10.1.2. Devices can be filtered by ID or Name.

Note: ‘Filter by ID or Name’ does not work if scan is stopped and started

again.



11. Profiles - Creating, Accessing and Loading Profiles

If a profile is created in remote mode and selected as shared then it will be available

on all connected Apps for that organization.

11.1. To create a saved profile:

11.1.1. Select ‘Profiles’ from the home page.

11.1.2. To create a new profile select ‘Add Profile’.

11.1.3. Enter a profile name and select device type from the drop-down list.


11.1.4. Select new values from the drop-down lists as required.

11.1.5. Select ‘Save Profile’ to save the current profile.

11.2. To access a previously saved profile:

11.2.1. Select ‘Profiles’ from the home page to display previously saved profiles.



11.2.2. Select required profile from list.

11.2.3. Make changes as required and select ‘Save Profile’ to save the current

profile.

11.3. To load a previously saved profile to a device:

11.3.1. From the home page scan the device.

11.3.2. Select the required profile from the Profile drop-down list.

11.3.3. Select ‘Update’ and then ‘Save Profile’ to copy profile values to device.
