6.1 VIEW DATA BY UNIT

When you choose to view data by unit, a Unit summary screen will open initially. This gives an overview of the masteries you have set for the units covered so far in the strand you selected.

Click on View, add or edit mastery judgements to see homework results and set masteries for your pupils. You will see a table showing the total scores your students have achieved with the score for the final challenge question separated out and the smiley face indication of how the students found the activity. Question marks will appear instead of scores when an assignment is still running and there is still marking for you to do (see section 7 My marking).

Page 27: USER GUIDE - Collins Education · Treasure House is a digital primary literacy resource delivered via Collins Connect, ... where you can record and view mastery ... USER GUIDE

USER GUIDE

27

The mastery will be grey for each pupil initially to indicate a judgement needs to be made by you. You can use the information in the unit results table to decide on the mastery level for each pupil for the unit. The score in the separate challenge question should be used to help decide between an amber mastery (Mastery achieved) and a green mastery (Mastery achieved and exceeded). To make your mastery judgement, click on the grey circle. It will turn into a green, amber and red selection panel – click again on the colour you would like to select.

You can click on the speech bubble icon in the Comments column to record a short note on why you have made the particular judgement you have for each pupil.

If you set the same activity multiple times for the same class in the year, a plus icon will appear next to the date in each pupil row enabling you to view results from the previous assignments.

For further help in deciding on your mastery judgements, see how the pupils performed on each question in the activity. Click the View detailed scores button.

This opens a table listing the pupils’ scores question by question to help you establish areas where there might be particular strengths and weaknesses both class-wide and for individuals.

You can click on the overall score to view the students’ actual answers versus the correct answers.

6.2 VIEW DATA BY PUPIL

Choosing to view data by pupil enables you to see at a glance how each of your pupils is performing across the units within a particular strand. The table lists the mastery judgements you have set for all of the units covered so far within a strand one pupil at a time.

6.3 VIEW DATA BY STRAND

Choosing to view data by strand gives you a list of the pupils in your class and their mastery level for the strand overall.

The pupils’ mastery judgement for strand is calculated using the pupils’ results for the units within that strand. The calculation of the strand mastery judgement is made using the following rules. If you have judged the pupil to be amber for all units, they will be amber for the strand. If you have judged a pupil to be red for any units in the strand, they are red overall for the strand. Even if they have been judged as green for one or more of the units, they will still be red for the strand. If the pupil is green for any units and has no red judgements, they will be green overall for the strand.

As a teacher, you can override the mastery judgement calculated by the platform for each pupil by clicking on the coloured circle in the mastery column and selecting a different colour. You can provide a comment for your reasoning for doing this. Note however that once you have done this, the platform will no longer automatically update the strand mastery judgement for that pupil if they complete further units, so you will then need to continue to manually update their strand mastery judgement if necessary.

7. MY MARKINGClick My Marking at the very top of the screen.

The homeworks you have set are displayed here showing whether there is any marking for you to do. There will be marking available if any pupils allocated to that homework have completed and submitted it. Each tile shows how many pupils have submitted the homework and there is a reminder of the deadline you set for it. Click on the tile for the homework you want to mark.

The following screen will allow you to mark the homework completed.

The pupils that have completed their homework but have not been marked will appear in the top left under To do with the ones marked showing under Marked.

Once you have selected a pupil to mark, their unmarked questions will appear in the To do section at the top. To give each question a mark, use the circled number buttons above the submission box. Note guidance is given for you on how to assign marks for each question.

Once you have marked all available submissions for a particular question, the question number will move to the Done section on the right and turn green. Note that if further pupils’ submissions come in, that question will have moved back to the To do section the next time you log in.

You do not have to finish all marking in a single session. You can do as much or as little as you like. Click Save and send at the end of the session. If you have marked all questions in the homework for one or more pupils, you will be given the option to send those results immediately to the pupils. If you choose to do this, their results will appear in your class records and the pupils will also be able to see how they did in their results area. You can also choose not to send the results yet if you prefer to wait until you have marked all pupils’ submissions and send them all in one go at the end.
